Who Agrees This is a Waste?

Since we aren't in debt enough and haven't spent enough money in the past decade or so, now the federal government has mandated that every street sign in the US has to be in lower case (except the first letter) instead of upper case by 2015. They say that older drivers can't read signs in upper case as well as those in this new format. The federal government isn't shelling out the money for it, but will withhold federal road funds from cities/counties if not complied with.

I remember reading somewhere a while ago, and it turns out our eyes identify words by creating a kind of lassoo around each letter. For example, the word, "Wake" would go up at 'W', then down at 'a', then up at 'k', then down again at 'e'. However, with everything in capitals the lassoo would be straight across, with no deviences for each letter, therefore making it harder to read.

I doubt that makes much sense to any of you, but it makes perfect sense to me. Anyway, I still think it's a waste of money, okay a few old people will crash into things, they don't need signs to make them do that anyway...

Didn't want to create a new thread for this, but in my city we had a police officer get shot and killed (his K9 partner was also shot, but lived) while serving a warrant for probation violation and suspicion of stolen items in possession. The person who shot him killed himself. It's a huge thing in the area right now.

Now the Westboro Baptist Church who uses Christianity as a base for hatred by having sites like godhatesfags.com, protesting at soldiers funerals, and protesting other things like "thank God for 9/11" and anti Jewish sentiment is going to protest the funeral of this man who was doing his job. Now there's a Facebook group with about 550 names of people planning on attending a rally to not let them protest. There's crazy potential for national news there.
