as i said, I'm not that into online gaming (aside from chess and hold 'em) and the solo campaign for MW2 is notoriously short... so i'm waiting for a price drop (or to find it used) before i give it a spin

I've never played X-Com. I do have Civilization Revolution for the DS and its so dumbed down that its pathetic. I remember installing 4 of the hard floppy discs to install the original Civilization.

The PS3 version of CivRev is certainly streamlined compared to previous installments--but I imagine it's not nearly as simplified as the hand-held port.

How simplified is it? Like "Poland. Bomb? Yes. Execute? Yes. BOOM!"?

You would have to multiply it by a complication factor of building a real space shuttle by hand. I mean, the city screen (if I remember correctly) is "What do you want to build?" I wish I could find my copy of Civ II... or Civ III at least.

Keep an eye out for Civilization Chronicles... It's I-IV with several expansion packs included.

I found it for a mere $20 online--but I don't see comparable prices right now...

either way, CivRevolution is NOT Civ-for-Tots... "streamlined" doesn't necessarily mean "dumbed down"

on a side note, played some Final Fantasy Tactics tonight... possibly my favoritest game ever

I'm a fan of Tactics, but it seems like it should have been much longer. You're starting to get some steam towards the end of the game and then it seemed to end abruptly. That's my experience with it at least.

I dunno... Between all the sidequests, secret characters, obscure items, pub missions, animal breeding, and the "deep dungeon"--there's nearly dozens of hours of gameplay outside the main storyline...

I haven't played many new games, but I did enjoy the new Street Fighter. M. Bison all the way.

Why don't you like playing online?

FPS, in particular, just seems so repetitive to me... the "team deathmatch" mode (and "free-for-all" mode, for that matter) has barely changed since i was playing 4-player Doom over a LAN... i'd love to see more multiplayer co-op games--you know, with actual missions and things to accomplish... i liked Rainbow Six because you really had to work as a TEAM to get anything done... Resident Evil 5 was fun to play online with a partner (me and my brother played it all the way through)..

Also, playing with strangers is kinda unfulfilling to me... i think the most fun i've had playing games online is with real-world friends playing RTSs and MUDs

i'm hoping that Star Wars Battlefront III will (if it even comes out) feature a local split-screen mode that you can also employ online.. i don't mind killing strangers, as long as i'm doing it with a friend..

The Spec-Ops portion of MW2 is co-op. It's pretty cool, but then again, I wouldn't buy the game only for that.

There's also Capture The Flag, King of The Hill, Demolition, etc. There are a lot of team games online.

Did you play New Super Mario Wii with friends or play Uncharted 2? If you haven't you should try them out.
