For Harry Potter Fans: Wizard People, Dear Readers

Caught this at a music festival last weekend, and found it to be hilarious.

Basically, this guy called Brad Neely recorded an alternate narration to be played over the first Harry Potter film. Maybe it's the humour in the writing (which ranges from surrealistic coments on what we're seeing, to rewriting characters, such as making Harry Potter an alcoholic, or even just a dash of profanity), or maybe it's Neely's performance, but it's pretty damn funny.

The Wikipedia entry provides free links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizard_People,_Dear_Reader
And you can watch a few Youtube clips for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPVhmZodaLA

I'd like to see this become a phenomenon, with other classic films getting an "alternative soundtrack".

I have never seen this, as I've been waiting for an official DVD release of it. What's the holdup, Warner Bros.?

Oh I imagine unless some deal is struck this will never see an official DVD release as Warner are indeed blocking it.

Fucking hilarious. I'd never heard of this before but thanks to allowing me to waste many hours laughing my ass off at this guy.

For me the voice he uses gets pretty grating after only a few minutes, but it is still funny.

I actually managed to sit through most of it. I think after a while it goes from grating to addictive and you get completely sucked in.

hmm I'll have to watch some more, from the documentary he seems to think its the voice that makes the whole thing so funny, so maybe I'll give it a chance.
