I haven't watched, but I did PLAY a tournament today. Finished 26 out of 121 but wasn't good enough for the money, only top 15 got paid. But played for 4 hours and was satisfied with my game. No real bull shit beats, I can't complain. Solid $120 tournament. Maybe next time I'll cash.

Good for you, Geez. I was in a tourney last Saturday with 175 people and came in 5th. Walked away with $50.

I think it took 13 all-ins for me to finally get knocked out. I was incredibly lucky many times over, espeically when I quadrupled up after hitting trip eights on the flop. There ended up being four spades on the table, but fortunately, not one peson had one.

5:30 pm: 90 players left. Collins is still the leader, but his stack is now at $8.6M and his lead on #2 Ben Lamb has shrunk from over $2M to $1.2m. And one-time chip leader Darryl Jace is now short-stacked.

7:15 pm: 85 left. Jace is out, and so is Panamanian Bolivar Palacios, who had a huge stack at the feature table yesterday.

I'm headed to what I consider our best local casino on the 31st for my brother's 21st birthday. It's at French Lick. There's other casinos closer, but I really would rather play blackjack and craps with a dealer. Probably no poker unless it's a SNG because they're only held on WED, FRI, SAT (there's no entry fees, though). Hopefully a bunch of us are going to Vegas in March and I will play there.

9:30 pm:

Down to 69. Recently eliminated including early favorites Matt Barter and Evan McNiff.

Phil Collins retains the lead with $8.2M, but right behind is Matt Lenaghan at $8.1M.

10:15 pm:

Former bracelet winners Allen Cunningham and Jean-Robert Bellande have both been eliminated. 63 remain.

Lenaghan now has a huge lead, with a whopping 12.3M in chips.

57 left at the end of the day. Lenaghan is still in first place.

Notable names left include:
David Bach (1 Bracelet)
Erick Lindgren (2008 WSOP POTY, 1 Bracelet)
Sebastian Ruthenberg (1 Bracelet)
Tony Hachem (brother of 2005 ME Champ Joe Hachem)

There's also a girlfriend/boyfriend couple still alive, David Sands and Erika Moutinho, which is always fun to watch.

3:30 pm AZ time.

46 left.

Recently eliminated include Stefan Huber, Jody Howe and Sebastien Ruthenberg, all of whom got some TV time in the last few days.

Top 5:

Ryan Lenagan - 11.8 million
Phil Collins - 11.0 million
Guillaume Darcourt - 10.9 million
Andrey Pateychuk - 10.7 million
Hilton Laborda - 10.6 million

Ben Lamb, who has been up near the top for two straight days now, is currently 9th with 7.3 million.

Near as I can figure, there is only one woman left in the draw, that being Erika Moutinho, who is the girlfriend of David Sands (also still in the draw). That could be interesting...

3:50 pm

One-time chip leader David Bach just got bounced. So, too, did Erick Lindgren. 42 left.

5:15 PM

Tri Huynh busts. Down to the Top 40. And the GF/BF Moutinho/Sands duo are not only at the same table, they are seated NEXT TO EACH OTHER. (Hellmuth joked that this may be the only time in their lives that he has "position" on her.)

Lenaghan, Lamb, and Collins are now the only players over 10 million.

nearly 6:00 pm.

Yikes. What NOT to do... Brazilian Hilton Laborda had a huge stack, and then... he flops a King-high club flush; he had Matt Gianetti killed, who had trip queens. Then came runner-runner nines, and Gianetti doubles up. Laborda gets noticeably flustered, and the wheels come off in very short order, and he's out less than an hour later (when Gianetti beats his nut flush with a boat on the river).

35 remain, and Gianetti is now chip leader at 16.2 million.

7:00, and it looks like the players are on a break. ESPN will take two hours off to show a soccer game.

32 players left. Gianetti is still leading with 14,360,000.

Sands is out, his girl is on the brink of elimination. I think they play to 27 today and then the final 9 tomorrow. 29 left.

And it looks like Ben Lamb is going to be the Player of the Year no matter where he finishes. The 75 points he has accumulated for making the top 20% in the ME will pass Phil Helmuth who is #1 right now. No one else is close enough to pass him, even with the 500 first place points.

And the GF follows sands right out the door. Sweet, but sad.

Still, they've got a half mil in prize money between them. That makes a nice icepack.

Sam Barnhart is a guy to root for. Right now he's 15/25. He won the last circuit event (the WSOP Circuit Championship), which he won an entry to from being in the top 100 in the circuit. He's an amateur out of Little Rock.

Never mind Ben Lamb being the player of the year. He's ahead, but I just read that they're including WSOP Europe later this year in the points system.

Day 7 (pre-game).

The lead just keeps changing hands. Now on top is Ukrainian Anton Makiievskyi, with just over 21 million in chips, followed by Eoghan O'Dea (Ireland), Khoa Nguyen (Canada) and Andrey Pateychuk (Russia). Former American chip leaders still in it include Ben Lamb (#5), Phil Collins (#6), Ryan Lenaghan (#8) and Matt Giannetti (#9).

As of last night, there are 22 players left. After the TV coverage stopped, five players apparently went bust, including JP Kelly, who was looking good most of the day.

Eleven countries are still being represented in the field, including Costa Rica, Belize, The Czech Republic, The UK, Germany and South Africa. Quite a melting pot.

Go Ireland! We're great drunks and gambling goes hand-in-hand, so why can't we be world-class poker players?

They said it's the biggest WSOP ever, not the biggest Main Event, though. I figured there'd be less people overall this year, but I guess if you're used to $100 tournaments every other week, it's taken away from you, and the WSOP lets you play $1000 ones you might just save your entries up.
