In the News : France just elected its new president, Francois Hollande, kicking Sarkozy out of the job !!! Good ridance if you ask me ;)

Very interesting to see a left-wing socialist get the job. Usually economic recessions see right wing conservatives gain power (Germany, Netherlands). You should be happy, Chien.

Sarkozy was basically the French Bush. I don't see what France saw in him (other than his hot wife).

I am delighted. At last, the left-wing comes back in charge. It's a great day for french politics, and for french people. The economic situation is what prevented Sarkozy from a humiliation in terms of the scores, but it could not prevent his defeat, thankfully.

Sarkozy could be seen as the french Bush because he is the leader of the right wing in France, or at least was, but politics are so different in Frnce and in the US, it's a shortcut that does not relect the truth I think. The notions of right and left, conservative and liberal, are different between France and the US.
