LA still has a ton of theaters with balconies, The Fox theater (don't exactly remember if that was the name of it or if it is just one of their flagship theaters) was particularly amazing. It must have been built in the 40s or 50s, and it had interesting architecture and paintings. Even the huge AMC multiplex in downtown LA has balconies.
