I don't care who starts at catcher. As long as it says C in eligibility I'm fine with it. Someone that blew out a knee doesn't need to be catching anymore anyway.

Tell that to Joe Maddon and the Cubs' coaching staff. With Grandpa Rossy retired, they've been strongly considering slotting Schwarber as the third catcher so he can get more playing time.

That'd be fine. You want your best lineup at the end of the game, then he can catch a couple innings. He'll spend 95% of his time in the outfield.

That's because they fired Dave Stewart and got someone who can build a team.

Yup. True, that, Boosh.

I'm convinced the Rockies can't keep up this pace. Their rookie pitchers will hit a wall probably around next month. Arizona, however, is rolling. Their hitting is tops in the league, and if they stay HEALTHY, there's no reason they can't win 100 games.

The Dodgers.... not sure. They're looking mighty good this year.

At this moment, the gap between the wildcard teams and the ones below the line is eight games. That'll probably keep climbing.

I thought the Rockies would falter too but with Bud Black now managing (he's Tony LaRussa compared to Walt Weiss) and a very good off-season, they seem to have broken their typical "good April before falling apart" run. I think they'll stick around.

How big a midseason acquisition is JD Martinez looking like now?

Four home runs.

FOUR. HOME. RUNS.

In a row.

Going for the even dozen tonight. :D

As a Cards fan, I feel like Jon Lovitz in The Wedding Singer.

Shryke’s losing his mind... and I’m reaping all the benefits.

Kelly was terrible as a Cardinal and Weaver was the weak link in the rotation. I think it's a bigger steal than people think, especially if Mo can get the extension to happen (remember, Matheny's no longer there).

Right now he’s a rental. If he wants a Pujols like 10 year deal at 31 he could kill your franchise. But if you can Matt Holiday him it’d be a major coup. I’d feel a lot better if the deal was for three years at the current rate.

Well, fuck.

I have no idea what the future is going to bring now. Yeah, Goldy had flashes of inconsistnecy, but he was solid 3/4 of the time. And a great fielding first baseman.

Maybe it's just his image, but I don't see him looking for a major cash-grab. He's earned it, yes, but he's not the kind of person to quibble over a few extra percentage points. (At least, that's the image he projects.)

Sigh. I'm sure the Cardinals (football) will be trading Fitzgerald next, leaving Phoenix with precisely zero lead-pipe future Hall of Famers in all four sports.

D-Backs had no real immediate future and Goldy was either gone at the end of the next season or his new contract would seriously hamstring the franchise. AZ Cards need to do whatever it takes to protect Rosen and give him weapons. At least the Suns give you hope. Ayton looks good, but I'm not sure if a center without a decent outside shot is legitimate now in this league.

I'm hopeful for all my teams for the first time in a while. Chiefs are rolling even after Hunt's stuff. I was disappointed the Mavs didn't get a top three pick to draft Luka and they went up and got him and he's working out well. And now the Cards got a guy who "didn't play well" last year with his .922 OPS. I'm pretty happy.
