All five playoff seeds in the National League have been clinched.

NL East: Washington
NL Central: St. Louis (magic number for division: 3)
NL West: Dodgers
NL Wild Cards: Pittsburgh/San Francisco

All that needs to be decided: home field throughout the playoffs (Washington is ahead but have a doubleheader today and tomorrow) and the NL Central title.

Four of the five AL seeds have been clinched (Kansas City clinched last night) and here's how things look right now.

AL West: Angels (top seed)
AL East: Baltimore (second seed)
AL Central: Detroit (leads by one game over Kansas City, winner of division will be third seed)
AL Wild Card: Kansas City (clinched)/Oakland (magic number: 1)

A Oakland win or Seattle loss late tonight will get Oakland in while the home team for the wild card game is to be determined (if Kansas City and Oakland tie, Kansas City will host due to winning the head-to-head tiebreaker).

Meanwhile, the NL looks like this.

NL East: Washington (top seed)
NL West: Dodgers (second seed)
NL Central: St. Louis (leads by one game over Pittsburgh, winner of division will be third seed)
NL Wild Card: Pittsburgh (fourth seed)/San Francisco (fifth seed)

The magic numbers for both Detroit and St. Louis are two. They both can clinch tonight if they win and Kansas City and Pittsburgh lose.

Detroit has clinched the AL Central. The Royals will host the AL Wild Card Game.

St. Louis has clinched the NL Central. The Pirates will host the NL Wild Card Game.

Oakland is winning right out 2-0 in the fourth inning. An Oakland loss and Seattle win would force a one-game tiebreaker that would be played tomorrow in Seattle.

And since the National League is set, I will predict that half.

NLWC: San Francisco defeats Pittsburgh 6-5
NLDS: Washington defeats San Francisco 3-1
Dodgers defeat St. Louis 3-1
NLCS: Dodgers defeat Washington 4-1

And now the American League (since Oakland just won).

ALWC: Kansas City defeats Oakland 7-3
ALDS: Angels defeat Kansas City 3-1
Baltimore defeats Detroit 3-2
ALCS: Angels defeat Baltimore 4-0

World Series
Angels defeat Dodgers 4-2

And Oakland is the first team out, losing to Kansas City 9-8 in 12 innings. The Royals came back from 7-3 down to tie it in the ninth and came back again in the 12th to win. Seven different Royals managed to steal bases (this has to be a playoff game record) and they managed to find yet another relief weapon in Brandon Finnegan (who is thought to be their future ace, making him a possible counterpart to Adam Wainwright).

Kansas City now plays the Angels.

The last two nights:

- San Francisco eliminates Pittsburgh.
- Baltimore and Kansas City win Game 1 of their respective series.

Meanwhile, all-time American League Division Series results where the road team won Game 1.
1981: Yankees defeated Milwaukee, 3-2
1996: Texas lost to Yankees, 3-1
1997: Baltimore defeated Seattle, 3-1
1998: Boston lost to Cleveland, 3-1
2000: Seattle defeated White Sox, 3-0
2001: Cleveland lost to Seattle, 3-2
Oakland lost to Yankees, 3-2
2002: Minnesota defeated Oakland, 3-2
2003: Minnesota lost to Yankees, 3-1
2004: Minnesota lost to Yankees, 3-1
Boston defeated Anaheim, 3-0
2005: Yankees lost to Angels, 3-2
2006: Oakland defeated Minnesota, 3-0
2008: Boston defeated Angels, 3-1
2010: Texas defeated Tampa Bay, 3-2
Yankees defeated Minnesota, 3-0
2011: Tampa Bay lost to Texas, 3-1
2012: Yankees defeated Baltimore, 3-2
2013: Detroit defeated Oakland, 3-2

In the 19 times that it has happened, 11 have gone on to win the series. This gives the Royals a 58% chance of advancing. But the Angels definitely still have a chance if their bats can wake up.

Baltimore won earlier today, 7-6, once again exposing Detroit's dreadful bullpen (Joba Chamberlain has a 108.00 ERA and former Royals closer Joakim Soria has a 45.00 ERA in this series thus far). They can complete the sweep on Sunday (and the pitching matchup should be good too, Gonzalez vs. Price).

San Francisco beat Washington 3-2.

St. Louis beat the Dodgers 10-9. The Cardinals came back from a 6-1 deficit to win.

Kansas City beat the Angels 4-1 in eleven innings. The Royals have now won three straight extra inning games and have won their last six postseason games (dating back to 1985, of course).

Meanwhile, the National League Division Series results of teams that won Game 1 on the road.
1995: Atlanta defeated Colorado, 3-1
Cincinnati defeated Dodgers, 3-0
1996: Atlanta defeated Dodgers, 3-0
1998: San Diego defeated Houston, 3-0
1999: Houston lost to Atlanta, 3-1
Mets defeated Arizona, 3-1
2001: Atlanta defeated Houston, 3-0
2002: San Francisco defeated Atlanta, 3-2
St. Louis defeated Arizona, 3-0
2003: Cubs defeated Atlanta, 3-2
2004: Houston defeated Atlanta, 3-2
2005: Houston defeated Atlanta, 3-1
2006: St. Louis defeated San Diego, 3-1
2007: Colorado defeated Philadelphia, 3-0
2008: Dodgers defeated Cubs, 3-0
2012: Washington lost to St. Louis, 3-2
Cincinnati lost to San Francisco, 3-2
2013: Dodgers defeated Atlanta, 3-1

Of the 18 times it has happened, 15 has gone on to win the series. This gives both the Giants and Cardinals an 83% chance of winning their respective series. But it could be like 2012 and Washington and the Dodgers could rebound after their Game 1 losses.

Detroit has been swept by Baltimore. Baltimore will now face the winner of the Angels-Royals series.

Edit: and the Angels have been swept. It's going to be an Orioles-Royals ALCS. In other news, the Royals have now won seven straight postseason games.

Today's National League scores:

- Nationals defeat Giants 4-1. Mad Bum was the goat as his error sealed it for the Nationals.

- Cardinals defeat Dodgers 3-1. Rosenthal seems to be on a death wish in the ninth while I wonder why Mike Matheny hates Jason Motte so much (Motte should have been on the roster over Randy Choate, as Choate's stats weren't any better than Motte's while Motte has had past postseason success). If the Cardinals let Motte go after the season, he's going to be an All-Star somewhere else as he won't be subjected the sabotage that he was put through in his brief action this season.

Speaking of pitchers, I'd be surprised if the Orioles didn't start Marco Gonzalez in Game 1 of the ALCS. Though the rest of the staff will be well-rested by Friday, it would be surprising if he didn't appear this postseason.

And it's not going to be a Freeway Series, as the Dodgers are out (it never was, as the Angels were swept Sunday night). They lose to the Cardinals 3-2.

In other news, there is now a 50% chance of an I-70 Series Part II: Cardinals' Revenge.

Edit: the Nationals have been eliminated, losing to the Giants 3-2. Game 1 will be in St. Louis Saturday.

The Royals take Game 1 8-6 in 10 innings. That's their fourth extra innings win this postseason and eighth straight postseason win overall.

Meanwhile, all-time ALCS results in which the road team won Game 1.

1970: Baltimore defeats Minnesota, 3-0
1974: Baltimore lost to Oakland, 3-1
1976: Yankees defeat Kansas City, 3-2
1977: Kansas City lost to Yankees, 3-2
1978: Yankees defeat Kansas City, 3-1
1983: White Sox lost to Baltimore, 3-1
1984: Detroit defeated Kansas City, 3-0
1986: California lost to Boston, 4-3
1988: Oakland defeated Boston, 4-0
1990: Oakland defeated Boston, 4-0
1992: Oakland lost to Toronto, 4-2
1993: Toronto defeated White Sox, 4-2
2000: Seattle lost to Yankees, 4-2
2001: Yankees defeated Seattle, 4-1
2003: Boston lost to Yankees, 4-3
2005: Angels lost to White Sox, 4-1
2006: Detroit defeated Oakland, 4-0
2008: Boston lost to Tampa Bay, 4-3
2010: Yankees lost to Texas, 4-2
2012: Detroit defeated Yankees, 4-2
2013: Detroit lost to Boston, 4-2

Of the 21 times it has happened, 10 went on to advance. This currently gives the Royals a 48% chance of advancing.

The Royals take Game 2, 6-4.

And now, all-time results where the road team has won the first two games of the ALCS.

1970: Baltimore defeated Minnesota, 3-0
1984: Detroit defeated Kansas City, 3-0
1988: Oakland defeated Boston, 4-0
1990: Oakland defeated Boston, 4-0
1993: Toronto defeated White Sox, 4-2
2001: Yankees defeated Seattle, 4-1
2006: Detroit defeated Oakland, 4-0
2010: Detroit defeated Yankees, 4-2

In short, every road team that has won the first two games of the ALCS has gone on to win the series. History is not on the Orioles' side.

The Royals now take a 3-0 series lead and have won 10 postseason games in a row. Every other team with a double-digit playoff win streak...managed to win the World Series during their streaks.

Meanwhile, the Giants won the other game and take a 2-1 series lead.
