Too bad for the Mexicans though, I really thought they were gonna put another surprise on the board and kick Netherlands out.

Congrats to France. Didnt' see the game but at least you won properly, and not through penalties. It'll be a damn good game against Germany.

It was a tough match to be honest. France was better almost throughout, but Nigeria battled bravely, and the goalkeeper denied many beaufitul attempts by the French players. But physically it was clear he was just delaying the inevitable. We will be a bit fresher than ze Germans who had to play 120 minutes. France / Germany, I hope the game will be as exciting as it promises to be. And of course that in the end, Germany for once will not win.

I'm picking the French to knock them off. Love the way they are playing, the Germans not so much.

Germany had a hard time with Algeria. But on the paper they are better than the French. We will be the dark horse in this game, I hope it will suit us fine.

I might just start setting my alarm 90 minutes after the start of each game... How many times have these last 16 games exploded into life during extra time!

Feel bad for USA, full of heart and determination, and some great play too, but Belgium on the whole deserved it for just being on top for most of the game. How the US could keep that tempo up though after so much play is phenonmenol. Doubt Belgium will face a tougher test in the WC. Certainly not from Argentina, who again looked lacklustre.

I was thinking the same thing about those overlong games. Only Colombia, France and Netherlands have qualified for the Quarter Finals without entering extra time. I sure hope it bodes well for those teams. Hum, at least for one of them. Hum, the second one cited. Hum, don't know why.

USA played well, but they only had two great players (Dempsey and Howard) and the rest were fast but not good enough. Belgium were undisciplined but brimming with energy (27 shots on target!). It was a great game, especially in extra time, and possibly the most intense of the game. Unfortunate for the US, though.

So now it's down to the quarter finals. I predict Brazil will just about beat Columbia, Germany will beat France (possibly in penalties), Netherlands will beat Costa Rica, and Belgium will beat Argentina.

Columbia will beat Brazil. And this time, France will beat Germany, it's been way too long. The ghosts of the 80's...

For far too long I've learned never to back against the Germans. I'll go for them to win, along with The Netherlands and Belgium who will be brimming with confidence after that win and I see them beating my sweepstake team Argentina who just look lacklustre. I also think Colombia may surprise and knock the hosts out. Bar Neymar Brazil have been poor while Colombia as a team have been very good as well as having the top scorer in the competition too. May dampen the atmosphere if the Brazilians go out, but I'm going for a shock.

They already should have been kicked out by Chile.
And I'm disappointed you guys bet on Germany. Fine, fine, side against my fellow countrymen. I can't blame you, on the paper Germany is better. but Germany hasn't played a Final since 1990, so it's not as if they're unbeatable, and they have shown some surprising lacks in defence since the beginning of the tournament. It will be real battle, but our defence will be strong, our midfield is one of the best, and our attack will need to be at the top of their game like they were against the Swiss.
