Song Similarity Question

Post by NSpan »

Hey guys. Just popping in to ask a quick question. (I will make a more formal reappearance sometime very soon and give y'all the update on what's going on in my world. *SPOILER*--I'm not dead yet!--*SPOILER*). But, for now, I am calling upon Reel Society's collective wisdom-slash-nerd-trivia-skills. Please listen to this song:

The segments from 0:37 - 0:52 and 1:25 - 1:41 sound strangely familiar. I'm wracking my brain trying to figure it out, but I can't think of the answer. Anyone have any guesses as to what other song these fragments sound ripped off from (or by)??

Sorry, man. Googled the lyrics, and this was the only song that came up. Otherwise, it's unfamiliar to me. Glad to hear you're not dead yet!

Ha, thanks for the kind words.

It's the melody that's nagging me--not the lyrics specifically.

Sounds like a pastiche of most 1980's New Wave songs.
Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

Man, been a long time since I heard any Spacehog! I remember first seeing them on a british show called TFI Friday, and then hearing the lead was going out with Liv Tyler. Never really a favourite of mine but they were interesting enough. Anyway, the obvious comparisons can be made to Bolan and T.Rex, while some more recent ones can be The Darkness' "I Believe In A Thing Called Love".

Definitely sounds familiar, kinda like a Weezer song, but can't place it exactly
