That's a pretty logical next one.

The next big one should definitely be movies, but I think I'd prefer an all-time directors countdown.

Shryke: Thank you so much for organising and running this. I loved listening to everyone's choices over the last few months.
I think your list was the most polarising and extreme for me, with a few songs I loved, and a few I really struggled to find anything positive about...even more so than Screen (no offence intended to either of you). You also had the dubious honour of being the only person I didn't share a song with, although we did both have an Outkast, and a Green Day song, just different songs. As to songs I really didn't like I have since kept hearing that annoying DNCE song around the place, including I think from one of my son's playlists. There were a few finds from your list though that I'm interested in hearing more of - The Thorns, Club Des Belugas, and Volbeat.
As to your number one song I do really like Muse (they are amazing live) but to be honest I do not understand how anyone can rate that song over songs like Knights Of Cydonia, Supermassive Black Hole, Time Is Running Out, Uprising (or any of the first five songs of the great The Resistance album), and many others. In fact as I hadn't heard the song before I just listened to the whole album, and for me Madness is probably the weakest song on the album. The album is not bad actually. Survival is a great song, and the highlight of the album, and I was taken by surprise when I heard the dubstep influence on The 2nd Law: Unsustainable - that made my smile. Oh well, just another example that highlights both the similarity and difference of our tastes I guess.

I am late in commenting the last #1 and full lists, but I will.

I knew Transcendental Blues was good, but I didn't realize it would render so many of you speechless!

Sorry I haven't been around lately and couldn't complete my comments on everyone's list, but I'm back and now is time to resume this thing.

So, next on my list to comment was Geezer.

I know you've read a lot that your musical favorites sound alike, or at least the Geezer song was always recognizable. I don't really know how to define it, truth be told, but most of your songs sound exactly like the type of song I would expect to be playing if I'd enter a pub in Boston, and your #1 is such a song too. Well I've never been in Boston (personal trivia, though, I was this close to move in to Boston for one year in 2002).
Most of them I found very listenable, very easy on the ear, although I had a hard time distinguishing one from another sometimes.

I wasn't far from including The Killers' Mr Brightside in my Top, so it's definitely my favourite "known" song from your top, and my favourite of yours I didn't know before this countdown was one popular song in this countdown as several of you guys included it, "Sometimes around midnight" by Airborne Toxic Event. I've been listening to this song quite a few times ever since it first appeared here, so thanks for being one of those who made me discover it.

Next, Screen.

Well, I must say I felt old, most of the times, when I listened to your picks, man
Most of the stuff you listen to is more like what my nephew listens to. Definitely not my type of music, but it was always fun seeing your pick appear.
There were still a few songs I really liked : Kylie's "Can't get you out of my head", a classic, Somebody Told me by the Killers, We are yound by Fun, Midnight City by M83, Paper Planes by MIA, and of course our crossover Someone like you by Adele.

So overall, despite all the stuff I didn't like, there definitely was some songs I really enjoyed.
That Lady Gaga song, Poker face, probably isn't one of them though ;)

Now, Tranny.

Well, Tranny, I knew, getting into this, that if your tastes hadn't radically changed since our last music countdown, I wouldn't have many crushes on your picks. And no surprise, your list was the hardest to listen to, and enjoy. I admire your love for such hard metal, I couldn't listen to that on a regular basis
To be honest, most of the times, when the song started, I thought "Hey, this one ain't bad", but the second that raw voice started singing, it killed the song for me.

And the rare times you didn't pick metal were songs I really wasn't into. I think the only choice of yours I really enjoyed was Califrnia by Lana Del Rey. That's still better than nothing !!! ;)

John's next.

Contrary to Tranny, I knew, getting into this, that I would probably at least like most of the music you would choose. Sometimes your tastes maybe a bit too much North American for my own tastes, but still, I liked how your favorite songs often had delicate musicality, tainted with a bit of melancholy.
First we had a crossover quite quickly, Rebellion by Arcade fire. During the mystery rounds, when I had a doubt, I put your name on the song I felt I could have chosen.

We didn't have other crossovers, but our similar tastes showed in similar artists we chose, like Beirut or the Postal Service. Iron & Wine, you featured several times, and it's a band I really appreciate. I'm glad you featured Eels too, as I was very close to feature them too.

You too featured "Sometime around midnight", so thanks for that, and there's another song of your choices I didn't know before this countdown that I really liked, "The Mariner's Revenge Song" by The Decemberists.

As for your #1, I don't think you've turned me into a Steve Earle fan, although I really like it ;)

Okay, let's end this, with Shryke, of course.

Do I really need to thank you and congratulate you for all this, once again you were the one we built this whole countdown, you definitely are the best of us.

Another congrats, for using the French expression "vis-à-vis" in your last comment, I didn't know you could do this in English !

Your number one, first. Muse is a band I've really listened to in the 00's and even early 10's. I'm not into the band anymore, but I still enjoy some of their songs. I must confess I wasn't really familiar with Madness, but it's definitely a good one from Muse.

As for your whole countdown, I've already told you how I enjoyed the sheer diversity of your list. Your list was probably one of the most unpredictable. Sometimes your tastes sounded like Screen's, sometimes they sounded like John's, or even Geezer's. I was often surprised, and that's a great thing.

There were quite a few songs you chose I really like, like the Eminem ones, Chasing cars, Somewhere only we know, Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, Time to Pretend or Moby's One of these mornings.
A strange list sometimes, but an enjoyable one quite often.

John you may not have converted me to Steve Earle but most of his songs you chose for this countdown were varied and decent. Transcendental Blues however was excellent. I really enjoyed the noisy, rocking dissonance, and touch of psych. It was enough to make me (eventually) check out the whole album. The second track on the album was also more rock than americana and I enjoyed it a lot. After that though it all got a bit too country folk influenced for me to really enjoy, until it rocked out again in a good way with All My Life, and I appreciated the sentiment behind the last song. So a great start and a good end.
Overall I mostly enjoyed your varied list, and looked forward to your selection each day. For the most part quality seemed to be the common factor. Whether I liked the song or not most of them were undoubtedly quality, maybe sometimes at the expense of heart and passion though. My favourite unheard song was Honest Man by My Morning Jacket, and I loved the ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead songs as well. I need to check them out more.

I thought Leestu might like to know that after a much-needed break I finally got around to listening to some of the albums that were featured in the countdown, and Pond's Man, It Feels Like Space Again is a damn fine piece of neo-psychadelica from cover to cover.

I also took a chance on Camp Cope's full album but nothing stood out nearly as much as the track he featured, Done. You might say this band is one and done. (I'll bet you missed that snark.)

I also took another chance on The Decline Of British Sea Power after listening to it years ago and my opinion hasn't changed. The band name and album cover are far more intriguing than the music.

Next up on my list is probably Death Grips, and since I've already heard everything by Pillowfight I may as well listen to it in order.
