I find Thom Yorke overrated. The real geniuses of Radiohead are the Greenwoods.
Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

I totally disagree. While many argued this in 1998, over the years you could see the band going in Yorke's direction (look at Kid A and how little the guitar was used) and reaching a peak. Johnny was a great guitarist, but he hasn't asserted himself that much. And I'm not sure Radiohead would have the same impact without Yorke's vision and vocals. As for Ed.... what exactly is genius about him?

That's a ridiculous comment to make, Boussh. The entire band are equally as important, although I believe Thom is the driving force behind their music. From the five members of the band to Nigel Godrich, they are the sum of their parts and outside of the band unit have never been as strong. They all work together and each have a hand in all their songs.

becs/leestu - David Bowie, “Life on Mars?” (1973)
Great song. Not the absolute best of Bowie, imo, but quality stuff nonetheless... i prefer it when he rocks a bit harder than he does here

Shrykespeare - Radiohead, “Fake Plastic Trees” (1995)
Great song from Radiohead's first great album..

Numbersix - Joy Division, “Twenty Four Hours” (1980)
As I've made clear, I'm just not a fan of these guys.. On this track, I dug the music--found the vocals irritating

Geezer - The Beatles, "A Day In The Life"
Amazing song. Used to be one of my favorites of theirs (if not THE favorite)--but it's still way up there..

undeadmonkey - Outkast, “Roses”
I dig.

Buscemi - Shirley Bassey, “Goldfinger”
Great music, but I can't hear it as anything but a theme-song.

silversurfer - Talking Heads, “Psycho Killer”
My second-favorite Heads song.

transformers - Coheed and Cambria, “Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial)”
Didn't dislike it. Gonna give it another listen.

W - AC/DC, “Back in Black”
Great track from the, imo, last great AC/DC record.

The Warlocks, “Left and Right of the Moon”
(2001)
I loved the last track from The Warlocks you submitted, so much so that I picked up the only record I could find in the music store I frequent here (Surgery). It's been seeing a fair amount of repeat play in the last month or so and I have found it to be an enjoyable record. This hasn't grabbed me in the same way yet, unfortunately, but I'll give it another couple of go's to see if it sticks. And Barca, maybe it's BRMC, they were the first band which came into my head when I heard them.
Surgery is amazing, but it's actually a bit closer to the Raveonettes in sound than usual. For that BRMC growl, the Phoenix LP is the one you really want.

As for the Radiohead debate, let's keep Greenwood's score to There Will Be Blood in mind. I love that movie--but almost in a campy sense, and the soundtrack is one of the primary reasons I approach it in such a way. Greenwood's contribution was just so over-the-top, misdirected, and (for a brief moment or two) outright inappropriate..

becs/leestu
David Bowie, “Life on Mars?”
(1973)
Good pick Leestu! :D

*Shrykespeare
Radiohead, “Fake Plastic Trees”
(1995)
EXCELLENT! Not one of my favorite Radiohead songs, but you really can't go wrong with them.

NSpan
Creedence Clearwater Revival, “The Midnight Special”

Not a fan.

Numbersix
Joy Division, “Twenty Four Hours”
(1980)
I liked the music, really did not like the vocals though.

Geezer
The Beatles, "A Day In The Life"

Definitely not my favorite of theirs, but still good.

undeadmonkey
Outkast, “Roses”

Pretty fun song, if a bit immature. Not bad.

Buscemi
Shirley Bassey, “Goldfinger”

While there is no denying her voice is amazing, I am not too into any of the bond theme songs at all.

silversurfer
Talking Heads, “Psycho Killer”
(also leestu's #64)
Still a good song.

*transformers
Coheed and Cambria, “Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial)”

Love C&C, these guys are super talented, glad to see them represented here.

W
AC/DC, “Back in Black”
(also Geezer's #75)
This is one of those live while drunk and seeing a cover band songs..

Banks
Kina Grannis, “Stars Falling Down”

Pretty mediocre, I could probably sing that.

englishozzy
Elvis Presley, “A Little Less Conversation (JXL Remix)”

Really like this one, I remember when it first came out thinking it was awesome and sooo catchy.

BarcaRulz
Dave Matthews Band, “The Fly”

I think DMB is generally pretty middle of the road, it didn't really stand out for me at all

Ron Burgundy
Bloc Party, “Helicopter”

I really like Bloc Party, one of the many great discoveries from Pandora. A good song, but I like Banquet alot more.
At least we can abort fetuses. Bad grammar and language last a lifetime.

Thread Review:

Top 5 songs not on my list and had heard before:
5. New Radicals, "You Get What You Give" - Buscemi #62
4. Muse "Starlight" - becs #63
3. The Arcade Fire, "Wake Up" - Geezer #65

Man/Woman of the Round:
Easily becs for this round. 3 of my 'top 5 not on my list' came from here selections, with a couple that would have been on my list had I done the full 100.

Biggest Comeback:
Goes to W for this round. His first three picks were all country and I was not enjoying them, then he teased me with some RatM and Rammstein, which I found to be OK, then he finished off the round with 2 of his last three picks coming up later on my list, and the third one that belongs to one of my favorite bands.

Biggest Surprise of the round:
Seeing LeAnn Rimes on someones list. Did NOT expect that to happen at all.

Liking the previews guys. It looks like some good songs coming up. Great to see all the Aussie stuff Barca.

Now that we are really starting to get into my favourite songs my list is starting to be dominated by the 80s, when I was a teenager discovering the wide world of music. 8 of the next 10 songs are from the 80s.

1969 folk rock song
1980 post punk song once voted the greatest song of the millenium in a radio poll
1982 song often referred to as the greatest song from this genre
1985 cover of a folk song from the 40s
1987 song from an influential British bands final album (the lead singer and the guitarist have both named this as their own favourite)
1988 song from an American alt-rock band
1988 grunge cover of a grammy award winning song
1988 song from an Australian alternative rock/ post punk band
1989 song that has already appeared in this countdown
1995 brit pop anthem
