I have two Beatles songs on my list (one will be very, VERY high up) and one Dylan song, as well as a Dylan penned song. I wonder if we crossover in that regard Span.

I feel the thing with the Beatles is that they were so consistently great for so long that its hard to not just look at them as a body of work rather than their individual songs. That said, the two I chose are the two that I feel stood out and have for a long time with me.

Hell, I went ahead and made the change. The Beatles are now officially the Most Represented Band in my Top 100. Five songs.

Aw no, poor James Brown. What a great song. I'd listen to him before I'd listen to a lot of the Beatles stuff first, but that's just me. I only have one James Brown song on my list so at least SOME of us are faithful.

I actually have no Beatles songs in my top 100. Strawberry fields forever was a contender but I just wan't into them at the time. While My Guitar Gently Weeps was close to making the cut, but somehow I suspect it'll turn up somewhere in someone else's top 100.

You'll be finding out shortly that I had to do the same thing Span, only the song I cut... well the band was represented 7 more times already so I didn't feel too bad about it ;)

My #1 favorite James Brown track still remains untouched. So I feel a little better about droppin' the other.

Nirvana has Against in its name?

I love how Buscemi can't realize that I'm only posting songs from two bands with Against in their name. He thinks they are all different so EVERY band does that. Either that, or he thinks there are only two bands out there these days that make music (and I mean, he might just be that oblivios) and I just happen to like both of them very much.

Dang. I had a 66% chance of being right. This is why I don't gamble. So which Nirvana tune didn't make the cut?

Shrykespeare
Enya, “Amarantine”

I love enya, so you get no complaints from me, though I will say this was less exciting to me than many of her other songs.

NSpan
Frank Black, San Antonio, TX
(2002)
I really enjoyed this one.

Numbersix
!!!, “There's No Fucking Rules, Dude”

It wasn't bad, I would be interested to hear more of their stuff because the whole "subdued" aspect you mentioned kinda turns me off to the song.

*Geezer
Simon and Garfunkel, "The Sounds of Silence"

Heh, I think we know how I feel about this one. I still think my performance choice was best.. HAH.. *runs away*

undeadmonkey
Rolling Stones/Susan Boyle, “Wild Horses”

I think I saw her sing this live on tv at some point, really beautiful song, I don't know if I've heard the original though so I have no clue if it's better.

leestu
Mudhoney, “Revolution”
(circa 1990)
WOW, I haven't thought of Mudhoney in years... and this selection reminds me why.

Buscemi
Puff Daddy and Faith Evans feat. 112, “I'll Be Missing You”

In my opinion they took an awesome rock ballad and turned it into a Boyz II Men song, didn't like it at all.

*silversurfer
My Vitriol, “Always: Your Way”

I really liked it, definitely a band I will be checking out more

transformers
Megadeth, “Hangar 18”

Megadeth really aren't my thing, but it wasn't bad.

W
Willie Nelson, “Always on My Mind”

Great pick, Willie has such a wonderful voice and this is a beautiful, simple song.

The Black Crowes, “Hard To Handle”

That was pretty good, definitely interested in more. The credits song was fun too, offspring? for a split second i wanted to say fall out boy, never realized how similar they sound.
You just reminded me. I was also going to mention that the song playing over the credits was better than the song itself. Sounded like it might have been Bad Religion or someone of that ilk.
You guys are so fired. Fall out boy? Bad Religon?!! Jesus. Its Offspring's Go Far Kid

Strawberry fields forever also just barely didn't make the cut for me, but I do have a couple of their other songs on my list higher up. No elvis for me, I did grow up watching some of his movies, and I appreciate his stuff, but I didn't include anything here that I wouldn't want in normal rotation on my ipod.

For what it's worth, they actually became a lot less subdued after this. You may to check out Heart of hearts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDq8Krv6irE) or PArdon my Freedom (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG_bLkAu ... re=related)

I'll assume you mean "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)" which is her biggest airplay hit (though not nearly her best), and not the LOTR song "May It Be".
