Ah, I thought you might have been referring to a Jefferson Starship record. Or The Alan Parsons project, which I believe was some sort of hovercraft.

englishozzy Midnight Oil, "Diesel and Dust" 1988
I've said before, something about my age makes me averse to popular music of the late-80s. I grew up with the grunge movement, and I've learned to love the weird post-punk art-rock of the early 80s... but I just can't get into what came next. Also, there might be a slight culture clash with these guys being from Australia. You, and some others, have exposed me to some cool music from the land down under--but it's VERY distinct. Lots of quirks and humor for "mainstream" music.

Geezer Lucero, "Lucero", 2001
I cringe at the label "country punk-rock"... but this wasn't bad at all. I listened to all three, and I liked all of 'em. To be honest, I didn't hear much of the "punk" side of this band within these songs. This sounded like pretty straight-forward modern alt-country. I might be the only person participating in this countdown who enjoys "real" country music, and sometimes these country forays by ostensibly non-"country" artists can feel a bit inauthentic and even kitschy. Not so here! I might check out a bit more from these guys. (Also: if you want a mix of "Nirvana and country," get those Meat Puppets albums already!)

BleedBlackandGold Blink-182, "Blink-182", 2003
I thought I'd been forced to listen to all of their music, but this was new to me. I actually didn't mind it. Don't tell anyone though, because I have declared on many occasions that Blink 182 is the "worst band in the world."

numbersix Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, “Henry’s Dream”, 1992
Liked both songs. The first one was surprisingly melodic.... and familiar--I wonder where I've heard it before.

Nah, the only post-Airplane stuff I like is Hot Tuna. That's where the serious musicians went during the split. Starship was a joke.

Albums I want to explore more....

Not as much as the last few rounds, though that's a good thing. The list was getting so large it was going to lose meaning. Anyway...

Dead Kennedys: Fresh Fruit For Rotting Veg
Ramones: End of the Century
Weezer: Pinkerton
Funkadelic: One Nation Under a Groove
Black Flag: Damaged
Jefferson Airplane: Crown of Creation

NSpan, I was hoping you'd dig Lucero. I actually thought you'd probably already heard of them. Get your hands on the album someway and listen to it. Its obviously great through and through. I've been listening to it a lot over the last few weeks. Do the same and by the next time you see them pop up on my countdown, you'll be ready to receive their masterpiece.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. - The Dude

Catching up quickly...
Album No.63

englishozzy Iron Maiden - Awful!
The Strokes, "Is This It",2001 - Much better. This was like a breath of fresh air in the rock genre that was actually getting airplay back then. Still enjoyable but I don't find myself going back to it much.

Geezer Social Distortion, "Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll", 2004 - It's okay, with his voice being the strong point, but the music just average.

BleedBlackandGold Against Me!, "White Crosses", 2010 - Liked this song but hard to judge an album on one song.

NSpan Elf Power - I think your descriptions are too good. From your intro this sounded like a band I was going to love so, maybe inevitably, upon listening there was a bit of a letdown. Nice enough but not what I was expecting/hoping for. I might persevere with the whole album at a later date....maybe.

numbersix The Dirty Three, “Ocean Songs”, 1998 - Maybe surprisingly with my obvious high regard for the Bad Seeds I have never gotten into The Dirty Three. Probably because I love singing, vocals, and lyrics - I guess due to my background of school musical productions. So even though it my be a bit narrow minded of me I really can't think of an instrumental album I like, although as I am a bit contradictory there are individual songs about of course. The other factor is that I was priviliged enough for my first exposure of this band to be a live performance, which was actually quite special and intoxicating (and definitely NOT serene), and nothing on record could replicate that experience. As to these two songs - Good, I appreciate the quality, but too serene?

Ron Burgundy Faith No More, "The Real Thing", 1989 - Some good songs, including your selection, but as an album not their best in my opinion. There's a couple I like more such as the oft-maligned (what do others know?) King For a Day....

silversurfer The Mars Volta, "Frances The Mute", 2005 - Although I prefer At the Drive-In this is a good album...and when I am in exactly the right mood it's an excellent album.

transformers, Metallica, "And Justice For All ", 1988 - Although it contains my favourite Metallica song (One), and I own a couple of their albums, I rarely listen to their whole albums...but I do like them when I do. Dyers Eve is a great song.

Album No.62

englishozzy Elton John, "Honky Chateau" 1972 - Seeing as its come up I'll admit I like early Elton John. Honky Cat is a pretty cool song.

Geezer The Darkness, "Permission To Land", 2003 - The affectionate mockery aspect appealed to me with the three singles off this album, of which I like Love is Only a Feeling the most. Never heard anything but the singles though. Not sure I want to really.

BleedBlackandGold Black Flag, "Damaged", 1981 - Haven't heard this album but I used to listen to their compilation Everything Went Black quite a bit when I was younger. They have some good songs. Enjoyed this blast from the past.

NSpan The Greenhornes, "Dual Mono", 2002 - Haven't heard much of them. Not bad. Liked Satisfy My Mind the best.

[number six The Velvet Underground, “The Velvet Underground”, 1969 - Great classic album! Always puts me in a good mood when I listen to it. Pale Blue Eyes is a beautiful song and one of my favourites of theirs.

Ron Burgundy Limp Bizkit, "Significant Other", 1999 - Okay in small doses but I think I can only appreciate and enjoy this band whilst under the judgement impaired influence of alcohol :D

silversurfer Meat Puppets, "II", 1984 - I. MUST. GET. THIS!!!

transformers, White Zombie, "Astro Creep 2000: Songs of Love, Destruction and Other Synthetic Delusions of the Electric Head", 1995 - I don't mind White Zombie. Listenable fun to my ears...and I would say Rob has listened to a bit of Ministry in his time.

Album No.61

englishozzy Midnight Oil, "Diesel and Dust" 1988 - It's a shame Peter Garrett isn't remembered more for his entertaining dancing than his embarrassing political career. I respect Garrett the musician but apart from a few songs here and there, like Beds are Burning, I'm not really a fan.

Geezer Lucero, "Lucero", 2001 - I really, really enjoyed this Geezer. Lyrically, vocally, and musically it had an immediate impact on me. As soon as I got the opportunity I played these three songs for my wife, and my oldest son to listen to. They appreciated it too.

BleedBlackandGold Blink-182, "Blink-182", 2003 - I've never disliked Blink, just got a bit bored of them. But I liked this song and don't mind Miss You, so maybe with the maturity you mentioned this album might be worth a listen.

NSpan Jefferson Airplane - Crown of Creation (1968) - I don't know what I expected this band to sound like but whatever it was it wasn't this. Looks like I've been missing out as I got into these two songs. The video to Greasy Heart was cool too.

numbersix Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, “Henry’s Dream”, 1992 - How good is this guy over such an extended period of time? Always changing things up whilst maintaining his distinctive style. As evidenced by the fact that from all the Cave albums so far from you, me, and Ozzy we are yet to have a repeat selection, and indeed might not. Anyway another great album but I can't put them all on my list

Ron Burgundy AC:DC, "Highway to Hell", 1979 - Can't comment on the album but the song was better than a lot of other Acca Dacca.

silversurfer The White Stripes, "De Stijl", 2005 - I was a late comer to The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army time - and am yet to delve backwards but I have got this ready for when I do. Hopefully soon as those two songs were great.

transformers, The Mars Volta, "Frances the Mute", 2005 - Interestingly for such a short track list we all have different favourites. Mine is La Via, La Viaquez.

To be fair to Elf Power, I held back on my favorite track because I had already featured it in the Songs countdown... but I think it might be worth revisiting:
