2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

The inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, class of 2012, have just been announced. They are:

The (Small) Faces


Also on the ballot but not making it in this year were:

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

The Cure

Freddy King
Rufus with Chaka Khan
Eric B. & Rakim



I'm happy for GnR and The Beastie Boys, they so deserve it. I don't know anything about The Faces except that it was Rod Stewart's group before he went solo, and I know absolutely nothing about Laura Nyro.

I love the Peppers, but I think they could have waited one or two more years. I would definitely have put The Spinners, The Cure and Heart ahead of them. And just WTF needs to happen to get Donna Summer in? She was the Queen of Disco, and one of the biggest female artists of the 70s!

The Small Faces are very worthy inductees, as are GNR and The Beastie Boys. Joan Jett should have been inducted a long time ago though.

Still no Electric Light Orchestra. Why does Wenner hate them so much? You think Jeff Lynne helping get Roy Orbison out of obscurity and co-producing The Beatles Anthology would have gotten them on the committee's good side by now.
