Apparently I'm going to Coachella. Anyone else?

I'm seeing FNM in Auckland on Thursday. Also, we get to see Pavement and The Pixies next month. That's good enough for me considering I can't fly to Coachella.

Saw Alice In Chains last Thursday. Awesome show! Played for almost two hours. Probably my fav band of all time, and one that influenced me greatly growing up. I can't say enough good things.
Re: Gigs, Concerts, and Other Live Performances
How did their older songs sound without Layne? I would have liked to have seen them back in the day when he was still around.

I read that Alice in Chains sucks without Layne.

Actually, they rocked pretty hard, even without Layne. The new singer does a really good job. They're newest CD is awesome. You should pick it up if you have the chance. I really expected it all to suck, but it's fucking great, and so was the show. Yu could tell Jerry Cantrell was just happy to be there, after all that went down. That gratitude and love of the music really showed in performance. And they played for nearly two hours. It was probably one of the best performances I've been to, and I've been to alot.

Last night we went to see Faith No More. Man, it's been 13 years but they still know how to kick ass like no one else. Reunion tours usually, once the nostalgia has worn away, have left me disappointed, but these guys didn't put a foot wrong. The band were so tight you'd never have guessed this was a reunion tour. Mike Patten was so energetic, rolling around the stage like a 20 year old. There are not many bands who could happily fuse together Peaches and Herb covers with From Out Of Nowhere, but FNM are one of the few that can. A nice mix of the classics and some rareties, personal favourites of mine were Surprise! You're Dead, From Out Of Nowhere and of course, Epic, but really, they didn't put a foot wrong. Let's just hope it isn't 13 years before they're back again.

Re: Gigs, Concerts, and Other Live Performances
Last night I was one of the lucky few who were able to see Pavement's reunion in all their glory. You could tell they hadn't played in over ten years, missing count ins, awful feedback at the beginning of the gig and Stephen's voice missing the cue every so often, but by the time they played Shady Lane most of those problems seemed to disappear. They got better and better too, with the crowd loving Summer Babe (and the band very appreciative of the start it gave them too), and they reached a climax with Box Elder and Cut Your Hair. They came back for an encore including Stereo in which they completed a gig spanning their entire career, must have been at least 25 songs in a 2 hour set. They all seemed to be really happy and enjoying themselves, nothing like the last gig I remember back in '99. They suggested they were working on new material too so maybe we will get to see another Pavement album in the near future. Good to see them back though.

Going to this in May. If anyone knows and wants to recommend some of the lesser known bands, go for it.

Don't know if you wouldn't really know of them, but Built To Spill, Panda Bear, Deerhunter, Liars, Broadcast and Anni Rossi are all personal favourites.
