Looks like that HBO Max Black Friday promotion could be a closeout deal. Warner Bros. is closing in on a deal that sends some of the DC properties to Prime, suggesting rumors that HBO Max may throw in the towel.

Not quite. The Warner deal will make them merge with Discovery into a new platform - I've been told what the working title is and it's embarrassing on a Meta scale. However, this should inject a bit more cash into HBO original programming.

Co-licensing to other platforms will become a norm shortly, because the public can't sustain multiple platforms. And there's a massive economic slump coming next year.

HBO Max is killing off more projects and planning to sell them to other ad-supported services, even though HBO Max has an ad-supported tier.

I guess this is good news for Tubi and Freevee.

I saw that Night Court got revived. Who exactly was asking for this?

It makes the Murphy Brown revival from a few years back seem necessary.

More proof that nothing stays dead: Hulu is reviving King of the Hill. This show should have ended years before it actually did but Mike Judge seems to unable to come with anything new.

In what might be the most pointless idea of planning a television franchise since Dick Wolf decided Chicago Fire needed its own universe, Paramount+ is planning four spinoffs of the Paul Giamatti series Billions. I know the show did well for Showtime but I don't think it was that popular to where it needed even one spinoff. Also, Paramount+ refuses to let Dexter die, as more Dexter projects are in the works.

But then again, Showtime did give Weeds eight seasons and keeps Shameless going even though both of those shows could have told their stories in three seasons or less.

HBO Max is officially dropping HBO from its name on May 23rd, simply becoming Max. Not sure if dropping HBO from the name will make it easier to find but I can't understand a lot of what Warner Bros. Discovery does.

It would probably make more sense to combine the streaming components of HBO, Cinemax, HBO Max, and Discovery+ into a single one-stop streaming site and possibly fold Cinemax and its output deals into HBO proper but that would be too obvious for the powers that be and therefore would never think of that idea.

Just signed up for Apple TV+, as I had three months free from Target Circle. Anything good I should add to my queue?

Severance is excellent. I hear Slow Horses is very good too. Not sure about movies though

I usually don't watch TV shows but I did put 14 movies on my queue. I'm also sure that I'll dislike Ted Lasso (the whole reason why people even use Apple TV+).

The rabid backlash against s3 of Ted Lasso makes me not want to bother.

Apparently Wolfwalkers and Boys State are Apple originals so check them out if you haven't already

I saw Wolfwalkers during its theatrical release. Meanwhile, I tend not to watch super political documentaries as a lot of them seem to feel like you're watching the news instead of a movie.

My Apple queue at the moment:
The Banker
Beastie Boys Story
Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry (yes, I've made fun of this one in the past but I imagine it's more like I Am Greta with a singer instead of the Justin Bieber concert movies)
Causeway
Dads
The Elephant Queen
Flora and Son (placeholder for its late September debut)
Greyhound
Luck
Sharper
Stephen Curry: Underrated
Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie
Sidney
The Velvet Underground (I could check this one out from my library system but there's a long wait list for it)

Seen (all in theatres):
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse
CODA
Finch
Tetris
The Tragedy of Macbeth
Wolfwalkers

Has any network or production company ever had to return this many awards?
