Endgame is still opening. However, some theatres probably got out of booking it due to the fact that it's already aired on PBS (it aired on there last Sunday).

The real story of the weekend is Precious. It's heading for a $1.8 million weekend, which would be a $100,000 PTA.

And not bad for A Christmas Carol. It should have monstrous legs.

Holy shit that is huge! And I agree with the monstrous legs of ACC. It will be hanging around for 2 months.

Nearly every show of Precious in New York sold out (even with the film playing on multiple screens at all theatres). Even the early matinee and midnight shows sold out. Could this be to the urban crowd what Paranormal Activity was to the horror crowd?

Yes. I really took a chance with Precious for $11 in Ultimate. Looks like it'll pay off. Men Who Stare at Goats...not so much.

Wow, $1.8M at only 18 theaters? That's bananas.

That's the total for Friday, Geez... You do realize that? $32,000 daily average per theater.

BOM's Sunday Estimates:

Top 5

5 points - Christmas Carol, $31M
4 points - This Is It, $14M
3 points - Men Who Stare at Goats - $13.3M
2 points - Fourth Kind, $12.5M
1 point - The Box, $7.9M

PTA

5 points - Precious, $100,000
4 points - That Evening Sun, $8,900
3 points - Christmas Carol, $8,417
2 points - An Education, $8,024
1 point - Men Who Stare at Goats, $5,448

That is the biggest trouncing by a PTA champ, I think, EVER. And that is 21 PTA for An Education, one point off the year's high in that category, Under the Sea.
