I honestly think it's going to clear $300 mil this weekend. I've never seen anything like this in terms of hype and pre-sale numbers.

I think it's going over 300 million too. The buzz is too high for it not to at this point.

May is going to be a MASSIVE month at the box office between this, Detective Pikachu, John Wick, Aladdin, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Could see it being the highest-grossing month ever.

Ooh now that's a really good question. Anyone know what the highest grossing month of all time is? I think this one really could beat it.

Yeah, I think May 2019 could almost DOUBLE May, 2011.

Couldn't find May 2011 on Mojo's chart but I'm not sure if even this summer will be able to significantly improve on that summer, or 2013's.

There's so much stuff coming out this summer that people are blase on Toy Story 4. The last one did $400 M, the last PIXAR did $600 M, no one is paying attention to Toy Story 4 because of Avengers, Pikachu, and Lion King. Things are so big this summer that a film with a $300 M floor that is a sequel to three of the greatest animated films of all time is getting looked over.

Avengers, Pikachu, Aladdin, SLOP 2, Godzilla, MIB4, X-Men, Lion King, Toy Story, Spider-Man, Fast and the Furious, and probably QT's biggest film of all time are coming out within three months of each other. Most year's tentpole films are second or third class this year. Nothing compares.

Agreed. That being said, in any list of more than four or five can't-miss blocksmashers ("blockbuster" sometimes seems too conservative a term, for the $300M+ Apex predators of filmdom), count on at least ONE disappointment... Perhaps not a "bust", exactly, but a ground-rule double only, not an over-the-center-field fence dinger.

Expect some surprises, and maybe even a shocker or two. Ain't nuthin' guaranteed in this game, except that, one way or another, one Division or another, I'll always be picking last. :D

Toy Story 4 is being overlooked because 3 ended so well. 4 is basically a reboot at this point

This exactly.

It should still be able to do decent numbers because it's Toy Story and June is relatively empty.

Based on Wednesday previews in some territories, Endgame has earned $169m. Already. Definitely a $2b film worldwide and potential record-breaker (Avatar is the highest worldwide unadjusted grossing film with $2.788b)

Yeah, I just don't see "Avatar"'s global haul being within reach, here. "Endg4me" might well do $2.3B, even $2.4B, but I'm capping its worldwide potential high side at $2.45B, and I think even that's a bit of a stretch. I just DON'T SEE the endlessly rewatchable obsessive-compulsive potential, here. I may be wrong. Hell, I never thought a $300M opening FSS frame was possible, either, and I'm hearing through the grapevine that some analysts are calling this weekend as high as $325M, $330M. That's just bonkers. So, what do I know, right? :D

The parking lot of our theater was more packed than any day I've seen it and I work across the street so I see it every day. And this is Thursday (technically before it opens) meaning anyone that didn't see the first two or three showings is getting out between midnight and 2 AM on a work/school day.
