I don't know. Comedy can have a hard time traveling abroad, but I'd say that "The interview" is one of those US comedies that can travel better than others because it has an international theme. North Korea makes the news often, so a plot to assassinate the dictator from North Korea, and the humor that may come with it,is a theme much, much easier to sell, that the oneof most US comedies of the past few months.

I can't remember where I read this, but I think that even before the threats the film was only going to get a minimal release in Asia because of the obvious controversy that would surround it.

Seth Rogen isn't a big draw worldwide, with Neighbors and The Green Hornet being the only movies he's ever toplined that grossed more than 100 million overseas, while This Is The End and Pineapple Express were colossal flops outside of North America.

Political Satire is a tough sell at the best of times, and I never thought The Interview stood much chance of going past 50 million domestic. Stoners have little interest in politics, and the satire crowd can watch The Colbert Report and the Daily Show four nights a week for free.

Speaking of Sony, it looks like Untitled Cameron Crowe Project's a dud in the making.

Sounds like Sony will be cleaning house on New Year's Day (or even earlier). I wouldn't be surprised if TriStar head (and former head of 20th Century Fox) Tom Rothman got Pascal's job.

I have to say, the social media response to this Sony-hack/Interview-cancellation is probably far more entertaining than the movie itself.

It is ! Although I'm sure I'd have a blast watching the film. I really hope it'll get released here.

They had a premiere, right? I'm sure bootleg copies will go viral before you know it. Someone's going to make a killing on this film. (No, not a terrorist reference, calm down, Korea.)

The latest rumors seem to suggest a limited/VOD release as Sony is considering an on-demand run while some art house chains have expressed running the film. This will probably mean a 50 theatre run at most.

George RR Martin invited Rogen to come to his theater and said he'd show it.

And now it's back on at December 25th in limited release, according to a tweet from the Atlanta-based Plaza theatre. It looks like the run with be limited to a few cities (such as Atlanta and possibly Santa Fe).
