But did anyone think a mid-budget movie starring Alexandra Daddario would be of interest? She's nothing more than a slightly more successful Bella Thorne.

It will be interesting to see if Lockdown, that Anne Hathaway/Ben Stiller pandemic thriller, will get any distribution interest if Songbird is somehow a success. But I'm still sure it's basically Serenity 2.

Hard to say how Songbird will fare on PVOD, but it more than likely would've gotten some eyeballs on a streaming service.

Also why wouldn't Lockdown command any distribution interest? Regardless of how you feel about the people involved, its a heist movie with a name ensemble cast. That's not exactly a tough sell. Quite frankly, I'm kind of surprised that Netflix or Amazon hasn't already bought it.

Steven Knight hasn't had a good script in a long time and Doug Liman still has the cloud of Chaos Walking (which is apparently still opening in January as a poster just came out) over him. And Hathaway and Stiller haven't had a hit in some time.

Wonder Woman is going to HBO Max on Christmas. Same day as theaters.

Very interesting strategy-especially since it will be only be available for a month at no extra cost. Should definitely help boost the HBO Max subscriber total.

It's going to be interesting to see what gets more hits on Christmas, that or Soul.

It also creates the possibility of other currently scheduled Warner Bros. titles (Judas and the Black Messiah, The Little Things, The Many Saints of Newark, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) doing the same. The studio hinted a number of titles would premiere on HBO Max a while back.

Now, I have to wonder if one of the seven scheduled MCU titles next year does a day-and-date debut with Disney+.

So they will go ahead and release it for this Oscar season. They must not be happy with Mank's early reviews.

Sony is capitalizing on the Wonder Woman move by moving up Monster Hunter to Christmas Day. Sony has also slotted Peter Rabbit 2 for 4/2/2021 and moved Fatherhood back two weeks to 4/16/2021.

In what shouldn't be a surprise, whether COVID-related or the results of the last time Simon Kinberg directed Jessica Chastain, The 355 has been pushed back a whole year to 1/14/2022. Who wants to bet this ends up getting sold to a streamer? Netflix seems to think Chastain will get it back together soon, considering that they bought that movie with her and Eddie Redmayne as well as exclusive streaming rights to Ava.

Now let's see if Blumhouse will ever release their long-delayed Naomi Watts film (which I believe also has Frank Grillo). It was shot like three years ago.

After it was pulled from the release schedule a few months back, Lionsgate has scheduled Fatale for a December 18th bow.

Meanwhile, STX will release Kevin Macdonald's The Mauritanian on 2/19/2021 for a late Oscar push.

Edit: I see AMC will be running Wonder Woman 1984. I was expecting theatre chains to embargo this one because of the HBO Max debut.

In a monumental move, Warner Brothers just announced that their entire US 2021 release slate will be released in theaters on and HBO Max simultaneously.
