I've never understood what happens to films produced by two studios after one gets bought out or goes defunct. Does the other studio get the rights?

Molly is now titled The Roads Not Taken. I'd expect a trailer to drop in the next few days.

Well, it looks like the nightmare came true. HBO is planning to remake Parasite as a miniseries.

The first Sundance deal has been announced. Netflix will release Horse Girl on February 7th, which shouldn't be too surprising as the director's never had a hit and I can't imagine any studio would work with Alison Brie after her defense of James Franco.

Meanwhile, Palm Springs is expected to be part of a bidding war. I guess we're supposed to ignore Andy Samberg's limited box office success when he's not voicing Adam Sandler's son-in-law.

Studios keep giving Andy Samberg a chance because his films seem to always become cult favorites after bombing in theaters (this seems like a Netflix movie anyway). Not sure if that will happen here - the premise sounds along the lines of something like The One I Love - I imagine it will be too artsy for stoners.

New dates:

Irresistible 5/29/2020
Honest Thief 9/4/2020

Meanwhile, it looks The Informer is getting delayed yet again. Aviron has laid off its distribution people as their chief financier is being investigated for fraud. It is rumored their remaining titles (I believe this and a sequel to After are the only ones) will be sold off.

Either this is getting fast-tracked or Sony is going to move The Happiest Season to 2021 (though I'd imagine with its LGBT themes, Sony would want that one to tie in with the election and Oscars).

The Organ Donor is now titled Spiral: From the Book of Saw. I have to imagine that we'll be getting a trailer any day now.

And in possible merger talks, Apple and Netflix have shown interest in MGM. Let's not hope that the next James Bond gets dumped onto streaming and that the library gets sat on like Miramax's was for so long.

Palm Springs managed to break the record for the biggest Sundance sale ever...by 69 cents. It wouldn't surprise me if 69 cents turned out to be the final gross but I guess that's why Hulu teamed up with Neon to buy the film.

In other news, the next Fast & Furious film will be titled...F9. Are they playing Battleship now?
