Someone called it a while back, dont remember who...

if marvel keeps moving up the start date of summer season, maybe we need to change the beginning of our FY draft?

I don't know. A bunch of the March titles would get affected.

I don't know that it'll win it for them, they only get a weekend out of it. $250M+ is great for a 3rd/4th round pick but it's not a guaranteed league winner. Still, an awesome reward for having the balls to take it that early.

The problem is: how do you change the beginning of the FY draft when any move up would overlap with the previous year? We'd likely need to know the results of that last weekend in April to know the selection order for a draft starting that same weekend. Would create a dilemma.

I honestly don't see it guaranteeing them the win, yeah. Had they picked it in 7th, 8th, 9th round something like that, yeah, but they'll be getting 200/250 millions out of a 3rd round or 4th round pick and some of us have just that too from our picks in those rounds, so it does help, but it doesn't guarantee anything concerning the win.

Huh. Guess we'll end up doing what we did this year, and making Avengers 4 available in both seasons. (I got $350M out of Week 2 and on this year at the #5 position).

New date:

Greta (Isabelle Huppert/Chloe Grace Moretz thriller) 3/1/2019

And Neon has picked up Amazing Grace, Sydney Pollack's Aretha Franklin documentary that was filmed in 1972 but shelved by Warner Bros. before release. The film had been self-distributed by its rights holder for Oscar consideration.

Climax finally gets a date. A24 will open on 3/1/2019 (though I have a feeling much of the intended audience will import the Arrow Blu-ray and pass on the theatrical release).

Is it known how wide it's going?

I don't expect very many theatres. It's a French film and A24's only other experience with handling a subtitled film was Menashe, which was mostly distributed in Jewish-heavy markets to success (especially New York, being that it was set in Brooklyn) and light box office in other areas (it came and went after a week where I live).

I'm guessing between 10 to 100 theatres at its widest.

In other news, Ad Astra might be pushed back again as James Gray doesn't believe he can finish the film before May. It seems like this could put the film in play for the next Oscars.

And just as I expected, Netflix will release The Silence.

Meanwhile, Universal has picked up the critically-panned literary hoax drama Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy. I expect this will be a day-and-date title with a rent-a-distributor (possibly The Film Arcade or Park Circus) doing theatrical bookings.

Wow, what a cast. It's nice to see Julia Louis-Dreyfus return to the Pixar fold, too. Anyone else think the similarity in logo design to "Frozen" is a subtle bit of pop-culture nudgery?
