Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Danny Boyle has pulled out of the new James Bond, apparently due to script troubles (though I also imagine conflicts with his Beatles movie). I'm not sure if MGM will keep the date.
I wonder if Aronofsky might reconsider (he was apparently close to signing on at one point).

Aronofsky doing Bond would be the wrongest thing I could imagine. May as well get Gaspar Noe.
Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Aronofsky needs a hit though. A for-hire project might do him good.
Besides, it's probably not any worse than Denis Villeneuve doing Dune.
Edit: in other news, Global Road has been taken over by lenders who are owed millions by the head of Tang Capital. Rumors suggest either sales of certain divisions or even Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The financial woes will not affect A.X.L.'s release on Friday (which is tracking a woeful $1 million for the weekend).

Another Weinstein title has been rescued. Bleecker Street will release Hotel Mumbai in a joint deal with frequent collaborator ShivHans.

Amazon noticed the lack of horror films at October 26th. Suspiria has moved up from 11/2/2018.
Between this and Halloween, is it the 70's again?

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Opening limited is a smart move for an artsy project like this, although I'm kind of confused why it's going wide after a week. A slower rollout seems like it would be beneficial to give the hype train around its reported abundance of graphic, disturbing content time to gain steam.

I think it would make far more sense to open wide right away. The original is a cult classic, Call Me by Your Name was a success ($18 million and an Oscar win for that type of film is like $100 million for a mainstream studio film), and the entire October 26th weekend is dump titles. Get those interested in on opening weekend before word of mouth sets in.

Schindler's List will return to theatres for one week on December 7th. So far, it looks like the run will be exclusive to AMC theatres with Dolby Cinema houses but I could see it being wide if there are enough open screens.

The first film in the Russo Brothers/Hu Brothers arrangement, the Chadwick Boseman crime drama 17 Bridges, will open on 7/12/2019. STX will release the film after plans with Fox to have an output deal fell apart.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Lionsgate has scheduled At Eternity's Gate for an 11/16/2018 date. Interesting that this one's gotten a date but nothing about Stan and Ollie or Judy, the two Lionsgate Oscar bait titles that you'd think would have been scheduled by now.
