I'd say it's more a case of moving it away from that logjam of late July/early August releases. Sony appears to have some faith it in its BO prospects and given the relatively barren schedule at the end of August , it's chances of finding an audience are now significantly higher.

The New Line Untitled Horror of 4/1919 turns out to be The Children, like most of us thought.

But has been retitled to The Curse of La Llorona.

Next Thanksgiving's going to get a little violent. Queen & Slim, a romantic crime drama, will open on 11/27/2019. Universal just bought the script, which is being compared to Bonnie and Clyde, and has fast-tracked as a vehicle for Daniel Kaluuya and Lena Waithe (she played the player with the Iron Giant avatar in Ready Player One).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 just hit a major snag. James Gunn has been fired over tweets made a decade earlier (seeing who found the tweets, it's more than likely revenge for the Josh Hader scandal). It's also expected a non-Marvel project he was set to do at Sony has been canceled.

I'm convinced Taika Waititi will take over once he finishes Jojo Rabbit. Thor: Ragnarok basically was a Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

I dunno, I think Taika waikiki was bored by the end of Thor 3 that he'll move onto something else. Guardians 3 will be directed by a hack like to russo's

Someone on HSX was suggesting Nicole Perlman but seeing how Marvel was too scared to let a woman direct Captain Marvel alone (and because Perlman's never directed before), I have a feeling they'll give Waititi an offer he can't refuse. And yes, I know that Cate Shortland was hired for Black Widow but who knows if it will ever get made.

Well, Kevin Smith isn't doing anything these days

I'd love to see Jay on Xandar talking about eating ass and smoking weed, while Starlord mopes about Gamora in the background.

Kevin's been doing a bunch of stuff for IMDb (and looks much thinner). Also, he shot a film in Florida last year that remains unreleased.

The Sisters Brothers will open limited on 9/21/2018.

Meanwhile, The Favourite will open the New York Film Festival. In recent years, this seems to be have been a mixed blessing to do so. Gone Girl opened the festival in 2014 but the last three years, it was The Walk, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, and Last Flag Flying. And now I realize that I had all three of those flops in the Full-Year league and I also have The Favourite. Break my cold streak, Emma Stone!

The Favourite is also in Toronto, but you didn't hear that from me.

Telluride as well. Fox must think it's this year's The Shape of Water.

I'm not sure it's in Telluride. Where did you hear that?
