Sony has picked up The Front Runner for a fall release. Not sure how it will be distributed (Sony struck out last year with their political drama offering, Mark Felt: The Film with the Overlong Title).

And Universal will release Unfriended: Dark Web wide on 7/20/2018. It looks like this will be a dump title due to Mamma Mia's sequel opening the same day.

Global Road is working on a $25 million deal to buy the US rights to the Jessica Chastain spy film 355. Is this really going to make any money?

Huh. IMDb said Global Road was about to buy the film (and HSX has been mum).

Speaking of Global Road, I'm surprised they're still going to open Hotel Artemis next month. There's been almost no marketing.

Yeah I figured Global Road would be a little more eager to push their first release that wasn't a holdover from the previous administration. Outside of some shit on Twitter when the trailer was released, I haven't seen it promoted at all. It'll be interesting to see if they ramp up the marketing once it gets closer to June 8th.

Global Road must've read this conversation because I saw spots for Hotel Artemis during the Celtics/Cavs game this afternoon and before multiple highlight videos from UFC 224 last night.

New date:

Suspiria 11/2/2018

Meanwhile, Annapurna has picked up Destroyer. I was convinced Neon would get it due to the 30West connection.

And Lionsgate blinks, and moves up their horror title. Presumably to get out ahead of all other horror titles, specifically Halloween I'm sure.

Hellfest - 9/28/18 (from 10/12/18)

The Valley Girl remake can't catch a break. First, it's pushed back to delete scenes with one of the actors. Now, it's no longer going to be called Valley Girl. The new title is Melt with You.

In other news, Aviron will open Destination Wedding on 8/24/2018.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is about to be a little, mmm...richer. Warner Bros. is nearing a $50 million deal to pick up the film rights to In the Heights. Previously, he and his business partners had reacquired the rights from the ashes of The Weinstein Company.

Six's meeting with Entertainment Studios was no joke. Animal Crackers will now open on 9/14/2018.

Westwood: Punk Icon Activist has moved up one week, to 6/8. This should deeply affect the precisely ZERO people who chose it in all the leagues combined.
