Wonder what The Hunt is about. Lindelof has had a couple of great TV series (Lost, The Leftovers), but his films have been lacking (Prometheus, Cowboys and Aliens, Tomorrowland). I see he's helming a Watchmen TV show as well. That could go well or horribly wrong.

Zobel's got a good track record but he's never handled a big studio film before. It's a wild card right now in terms of potential.

New dates:

How to Talk to Girls at Parties 5/25/2018 (from 5/18/2018)
Blindspotting 7/20/2018 (from 7/27/2018)
We the Animals 8/10/2018
The Old Man and the Gun (another David Lowery film no one will ever see) 10/5/2018
On the Basis of Sex 11/9/2018 (despite the Ruth Bader Ginsberg popularity, I can't see this playing wide)
The Favourite (the latest "let's cast an American as a European in power" movie) 11/23/2018
Captive State 3/29/2019 (from 8/17/2018)
Untitled Conjuring Universe Film 7/3/2019
Superintelligence (the fifth Melissa McCarthy/Ben Falcone project) 12/25/2019
Just Mercy 1/17/2020 (but don't be surprised to see this move up to Christmas)

And The Con is On is back to being The Hustle, as Lionsgate already registered The Con is On for a film opening next month (that was shot three years ago). And with no trailer out combined with another con-themed film with Anne Hathaway opening soon, MGM could very well push the film back from its current 6/29/2018 date.

Annapurna will now release the next Laika film, which is currently undated. Looks like the DreamWorks sale turned them into the odd man out at Universal.

Meanwhile, Overlord is being reworked to become its own standalone film (I guess this makes it the Season of the Witch of the Cloverfield series). However, Cloverfield 4 is still in the works as a forthcoming theatrical entry.

New date:

Fighting with My Family 3/1/2019 (from 9/14/2018) (either MGM must fear Dwayne Johnson overexposure or it's being timed with Wrestlemania)

And the Untitled Conjuring Universe movie is Annabelle 3: Still Too Damn Ugly.

Everyone's favorite little Canadian, Jacob Tremblay, will graduate to raunchy comedies on 8/16/2019. That's when Good Boys (previously scheduled as a Universal placeholder) opens. Will audiences be ready to hear little Jack from Room/Auggie Pullman say fuck?

New Universal dates:

A Dog's Journey (this looks to be the sequel to A Dog's Purpose) 5/17/2019
Bios (Tom Hanks android film) 10/2/2020

A Dog's Journey is indeed the sequel to A Dog's Purprose. I almost had a heart attack when I first saw the news on Deadline yesterday because I thought A Dog's Way Home had gotten delayed a few hours after I took in the draft.

Meanwhile, Sony will open Peter Rabbit 2 on 2/7/2020. I wonder what other Beatrix Potter stories they'll turn into generic Alvin and the Chipmunks imitations.

It also more than likely means the Lord/Miller project scheduled then will be pushed.

And the Lord/Miller movie has moved up to 1/10/2020. Sony has also scheduled a horror film called Escape Room for 11/30/2018 (I'll be surprised if that date sticks, seeing how often Sony has scheduled and then delayed horror titles).

It looks like Sherlock Holmes 3 will finally happen. Warner Bros. has scheduled it for 12/25/2020.

New dates:

AXL 8/24/2018 (from 8/10/2018)
Serenity 10/19/2018 (from 9/28/2018)
A Private War 11/2/2018 limited, 11/16/2018 wide

Meanwhile, Loving Pablo will now be a day-and-date release.

Also, it looks like MGM will continue to operate Orion as a separate distribution label while also working with Annapurna. Just announced today is that Bill and Ted 3, assuming it's finally made, will be an Orion release just like the first two.

Edit: the Untitled Jordan Peele Movie is now titled Us. The plot is still unknown but Lupita Nyong'o and Elisabeth Moss are in talks to star.

Distribution news:

- Focus will release Asghar Farhadi's Everybody Knows, winning a bidding war over Netflix.

- Amazon has dropped The Man Who Killed Don Quixote due to the ongoing lawsuit (at first, I thought it was due to the sexual harassment allegations against Gilliam). No distributor will even touch the film until the suit is heard.

And two new Sony dates:
You Are My Friend (Tom Hanks is Fred Rogers) 10/18/2019
Bad Boys for Life 1/17/2020 (from TBA) (Will Smith will return)
