Neon will release I, Tonya in the US (I guess they'll have the controversial sports figure biopic market cornered next year with this and Borg/McEnroe). I wonder if this puts them in contention to distribute the new Halloween as well (the new Blumhouse deal makes it possible).

Meanwhile, Villa Capri is apparently now titled Just Getting Started.

Edit: The Orchard just paid $5 million for Louis C.K.'s I Love You, Daddy. Between its entertainment insider plot, it being in black and white, and having Chloe Grace Moretz in its cast, I'm convinced The Orchard overpaid for a film only hardcore Louie fans will ever see.

Meanwhile, Netflix picked up Kodachrome. Not too surprised as it seems very niche-appealed (it would have been between them and one of the fringe day-and-date labels).

I'm actually going to hold on to it for the time being. The film is completed, so I wouldn't be shocked if Disney put it out before the end of the season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Magic Camp tested horribly and Disney's doing reshoots to make the leads more likable (but that's hard to do when Adam Devine's your leading man).

Meanwhile, the Villa Capri name change is official, as noted by the release of its trailer today.

Lastly, new dates:
A Bad Moms Christmas 11/1/2017 (from 11/3/2017)
Chappaquiddick 12/8/2017
The Hurricane Heist 2/9/2018
Untitled Entertainment Studios Project (I bet this is 48 Meters Down) 6/15/2018
Ad Astra 1/11/2019 (however, I expect a limited run at least two weeks earlier for Oscars)
John Wick: Chapter 3 5/17/2019
Untitled Entertainment Studios Project (could be another sequel) 6/28/2019

A24 has picked up Paul Schrader's First Reformed. I'm expecting a decent-sized release in the spring.

Speaking of films starring Amanda Seyfried, Netflix picked up Anon earlier today (as I expected they would).

Currently, the biggest Toronto title without a distributor seems to be Hostiles, as the producers want too much for it (I bet they want a similar deal to Chappaquiddick but bigger, the film cost $45 million to produce and foreign sales alone won't cover the cost).

Edit: Universal will release Halloween on 10/19/2018. And Jamie Lee Curtis will return as Laurie Strode.

In the department of "dead projects that get a second life", it looks like The Croods 2 is coming on 9/18/2020. I wonder what this means for other shelved DreamWorks projects (Larrikins? B.O.O.? Shadows?).

Related to Universal, they've scheduled a DreamWorks/Blumhouse co-production called Spooky Jack for 9/17/2021.

Couple Sony related date announcements: Equalizer 2 is moving up to 8/20/18 instead of 9/14 and Paul, Apostle of Christ is dropping on March 28, 2018.

Something's going to move out of that March 30th weekend now (most likely the oft-delayed Midnight Sun but God's Not Dead 3 could end getting delayed also as filming only just started recently).

I don't get why these religious movies aren't just given day-and-date distribution. Almost none of them make money (Sony's last religious film has made just over $5 million).

Meanwhile, if Sony moved up a film to August 10th, it looks like the Anne Hathaway in Barbie talks broke down and it's getting pushed (you just know they'll find a way to retool it into a comeback film for Cameron Diaz).

The Equalizer 2 moved up again, this time to 8/3/2018 (so it looks like Barbie's still on).

Meanwhile, Amityville: The Awakening is now going to be given away for free on Google Play on October 12th followed by a limited release on October 28th (yes, a Saturday). We can now finally close the door on that unending saga.

I guess the industry decided to move on delaying the other 47 Bella Thorne movies they have no intention of even releasing.

Meanwhile, I'd be surprised if Jennifer Jason Leigh ever remembers making the film.

BOM has announced that Amityville: The Awakening is indeed releasing on 10/28/17. I'm sure that excited the seven or eight people drooling to see it.
