An interesting promotion on Fandango this week: if you buy four tickets for The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie, you get a fifth for free. Now before you say, "Why does Fandango expect to sell five ticket packs for a smaller anime title that's only playing one show a night?", think of how much a quintuple is.

In other news, Annapurna looks to be returning full steam as a production label with former Blue Sky employees and a deal at Netflix to produce animation titles. I wonder if Megan Ellison tries to make a deal for Orion if Amazon does indeed close the film division.

Reports of Orion's death have been greatly exaggerated. They have bought the worldwide rights to the literary drama Erasure, which could be MGM's big Oscar movie for next year.

After the whole Batgirl debacle, Universal has snatched up its directors for yet another Mummy reboot. That should probably be the title, Yet Another Mummy Reboot.

Meanwhile, hot off of Keke Palmer entering the Oscar race, Amazon has picked up her next film, Moxie. I have to imagine it gets renamed at some point as Netflix had a reasonable profile film with the same title last year.

Marlowe has been pushed twelve days to February 15th. Sure, you get a holiday weekend but something as minor as this one will get cannibalized by Ant-Man.

In other news, Paramount+ has a movie based on the Teen Wolf TV series arriving on January 26th. Not sure who was asking for this.

Netflix will release the Kenya Barris-directed Eddie Murphy/Jonah Hill/Julia Louis-Dreyfus vehicle You People on January 27th.

Roadside has acquired the US rights to Paul Weitz's Moving On and set it for a theatrical release on March 17th.

Bong Joon-ho's first Hollywood film, Mickey 17, will open on 3/29/2024. This is a rare non-sequel film for Warner Bros., even though I'm willing to bet they'll make it a trilogy with the sequels' director being an easily-controllable hack (Tommy Wirkola's phone has to be constantly vibrating with studio offers right now).

Apparently, IFC is releasing Skinamarink on January 13th wide as AMC Theatres is promoting the film on their Twitter. I guess January is going to be the test to see if meme-driven horror marketing is the future for promoting the genre.
