A re-edited version of The Current War is set to open wide in August from new distributor 101 Studios. A clause in the contract of Martin Scorsese (who served as executive producer) stated the film had to play in a certain number of theatres.

Also, The Conjuring 3 will open on 9/11/2020.

I expected it to get a 2020 release as well since it just started shooting a few weeks ago, but apparently STX is fast tracking it.

I think it was set for 2019 at Annapurna, so it would make sense if it already was completed on paper

A September release doesn't suggest much promise, as this was expected to be an awards contender.

And the project went into turnaround after Annapurna couldn't get it made with Emma Stone (the main character's race was going to get changed from Asian to white and then there was backlash, leading Stone to pull out and Constance Wu to take over).

I doubt a movie with Cardi B is going to win Oscars regardless of quality.

I didn't see transformer's post about it just starting shooting - I thought it was completed.
