I'd be surprised if Jojo Rabbit even did anything wide. Is there really an audience for Moonrise Kingdom with Nazis?

Waititi has a solid fanbase, which should help it somewhat, but I can't see it doing the Favorite numbers that Searchlight seems to be expecting.
It's not destroying. It's making something new.

Didn't think Midsommar was long enough? A 171 minute director's cut will hit theatres next week. Also coming then: an extended version of Spider-Man: Far from Home.

New dates:

Villains 9/20/2019 (Gunpowder & Sky's first wide release, apparently)
The Woman in the Window 5/15/2020 (from TBA)
The Empty Man 8/7/2020
Cruella 5/28/2021 (from 12/23/2020)
355 1/15/2021

In other news, the new James Bond has a title. It will be called No Time to Die, which might as well be the motto of its domestic distributor.

Fox has scheduled its inevitable 2020 Best Picture nominee, Everybody's Talking About Jamie, for a 10/23/2020 date.

Uncharted lost its director (again). Just kill this project, Sony.

Other moves:

Waves 11/1/2019
Fantasy Island 2/14/2020 (from 2/28/2020)
The Invisible Man 2/28/2020 (from 3/13/2020)
Rise TBA 2020 (from 4/10/2020)

Edit: after Hasbro failed to buy Lionsgate a few years back, they got their studio as they have just paid $4 billion to buy eOne. Maybe this means eOne will finally distribute some watchable movies instead of things even Gravitas Ventures and Vertical passed on.

Black Panther 2 will open on 5/6/2022. Could some May records fall?

The next Disney animated feature after Frozen II will be called Raya and the Last Dragon and will open on 11/25/2020. I guess Disney avoided the Yeti sweepstakes and chose to ape How to Train Your Dragon instead.

New Focus dates:

Dark Waters 11/22/2019 limited, 11/29/2019 expansion
Covers (music drama with Dakota Johnson) 5/8/2020

Meanwhile, Annapurna will manage to stave off bankruptcy as it will cover $200 million that was owed to creditors. Not sure if they'll be able to start making movies again or if their movies not named No Time to Die will get released as a result.

Thought Covers was supposed to be a comedy?

Netflix has set a limited theatrical date for The Irishman: 11/1/19 (11/8 wider)

But it won't be played in any AMC/Regal/Cinemark, so will only be able to go so wide. And if it's like Roma, they won't even report any box office.
