Yes, Russell was a total dick to his cast. But don't you think people can change for the better, and don't you think people deserve the benefit of the doubt? Russell has discussed having a change of attitude since Huckabees (which he doesn't even like) and the return of cast to his latest movies is proof of that change. That and the fact that he's all of a sudden making good movies.

Yes, people can change for the better. But I believe that Russell is a man who has burned too many bridges to even deserve another chance in Hollywood. There are guys who are crazy but can make excellent art (guys like Kubrick and Herzog) and then there are guys like David O. Russell, whose productions have become nightmares based his own undoing.

Date Change

jOBS - TBC (from 4/19/13)

jOBS has apparently been moved from it's 19th April release date to an undetermined release. The original intention was to release the movie in line with the 37th anniversary of Jobs founding Apple. However, it's been determined that there wasn’t enough time to prepare for a proper release and create buzz for the film, so a release has been delayed.

New release date:

The World's End 8/23/2013 (from 10/25/2013)

With the decision to move this one to the summer, it's telling us that either Sony isn't expecting the similar This is the End to make money or Universal is going to delay Kick-Ass 2 again.

Finding Dory (the new title for Finding Nemo 2) and the Untitled Dia de los Muertos Project have traded dates. Dory will now open on November 25th, 2015 while Muertos will open sometime in 2016.

New release date

Only God Forgives 7/19/2013 (but since this is from Weinstein's Radius label, expect a June VOD premiere)

With how great the film looks, and Drive's consideration, and its potential Cannes presentation and all, it would be a shame. Let's hope they'll change their shift on that one.

If any forthcoming Weinstein film should have gone to the Radius label, it's Scary Movie V. Does anyone even remember this franchise anymore?

It's also puzzling that Aftershock (a Eli Roth/Selena Gomez disaster film that had trailers on some prints of Django Unchained) is getting the Radius treatment (the theatrical date is May 10th but it debuts on VOD later this month). You think Harvey would have exploited Gomez's few scenes and gotten her fanbase of teen girls to see it. Besides, the film couldn't have cost much to pick up and they could have broken even in a single weekend (until the bad word of mouth set in, of course).

Other forthcoming films being released through the Radius label include the Aaron Eckhart/Olga Kurylenko thriller Erased (opening May 10th but debuts later this month on VOD) and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (debuting on VOD in May with a planned late summer theatrical release).

All the boys love Mandy Lane... It's taken so long, I think in France the film was released directly on DVD a few years back already... (I'll need to check that assertion though...)

The rights issues were finally settled and The Weinstein Company picked it up (again). Don't be surprised to see it be promoted as being from the director of Warm Bodies.

Latest Date Change:

I, Frankenstein 1/24/14 (from 9/13/13)

Well, from mid-September to late January. Not sure which date is worse. What, did it think it was going to get killed at the box office by Battle of the Year and Machete Kills?
Happy 60th birthday Jet Li! (4/26/23)

Expect R.I.P.D. to be pushed from its July 19th date. The film is having post-production troubles due to Rhythm and Hues (the Oscar winning visual effects company behind Life of Pi) going bankrupt and Universal hasn't released a trailer yet. Don't be surprised to see Kick-Ass 2 or Rush take its date.

Dammit, I was looking forward to sticking RIPD on my bankrupts slate. It's a disaster in the making.

The only thing the film has going for it is Jeff Bridges. And even he isn't invincible (remember Stick It?).
