It's a top-tier Best Picture contender, so there's no way in hell it won't.

It will. I've seen the trailer with almost every movie as of late.

Bleecker Street has announced their early 2018 lineup.

Nostalgia 2/16/2018
What They Had 3/16/2018
Beirut (aka High Wire Act) 4/13/2018
Disobedience 4/27/2018
On Chesil Beach 6/15/2018

As mentioned before, The Art of Self-Defense will arrive later in the year.

Meanwhile, 48 Meters Down has been revealed to the 6/28/2019 Entertainment Studios title. Who knows what the 6/15/2018 title will be (Replicas, maybe?).

Looks like All the Money in the World has jumped from the uncrowded weekend of 12/8 to the hella crowded weekend of 12/22, and will be released wide. Hmmm.....

Now it's going to get buried. Sony should just open this one in the spring as it's not going to do anything in terms of Oscars (besides, Danny Boyle's rival Getty project just sounds better).

Meanwhile, A24 has now gotten into the placeholder game. They've scheduled untitled horror films for 3/16/2018 and 4/27/2018. There should already be at least a million in pre-sales from those obsessed with them and their movies.

In other news, Quentin Tarantino's newest has entered a bidding war before filming begins. Rumors suggest one of the newer distributors has offered a big deal to pick it up, script unseen (HSX thinks it's Annapurna, I'm convinced it's Entertainment Studios).

Why would Fox move their film earlier. That weekend has so much compteition when they could have waiting a week, played it over Xmas Day, and found an audience. Poor move.

I think opening limited on the 20th would make more sense, especially with the rumors of 70mm prints in select markets.

Paramount will open the Blake Lively vehicle The Rhythm Section on 2/22/2019. This looks to be Eon Productions' hope for a female James Bond (meanwhile, does this mean that Paramount might get the next Bond film?).

Meanwhile, reports have come out that close to 80% of Solo: A Star Wars Story was reshot by Ron Howard. In addition, the budget is now double what was originally planned (which could mean a final production cost of nearly $400 million).

No, it lost its date a while back as the scandal has left Weinstein with no money to release it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Netflix buy the film at this point as box office potential is limited and the reviews have been negative.

Speaking of scandals, I wouldn't be surprised if All the Money in the World got pushed. I can't see any interest in a movie starring Kevin Spacey at the moment.

MGM has officially announced they will be distributing their future titles with Annapurna. No surprise as they were already working together on international distribution as well as on Death Wish.

Meanwhile, MGM has dated a remake of Valley Girl for 6/28/2018, Stephen Merchant's Fighting with My Family for 9/14/2018, and Creed 2 for 11/21/2018.

Also, Warner Bros. will open Crazy Rich Asians on 8/17/2018. I figured this would open a bit earlier in the summer.

Lastly, it looks like the two untitled A24 horror films are known. One is a slasher film involving pizza delivery employees with Chance the Rapper called Slice (most likely the 3/16/2018 title) while the other is an untitled film with Alex Wolff (Nat's brother) and Toni Collette (most likely the 4/27/2018 title as it's still having test screenings).

Edit: STX has just announced plans for more Bad Moms movies, to all be themed after holidays. Meanwhile, I don't know what's happened with the planned spinoff (I'm convinced men's rights activists killed this one).

Second edit: Paramount has scheduled an untitled Tyler Perry project for 4/12/2019. This is fast becoming a crowded spot.

Third edit: Polaroid has now lost its date. Coco will now have Thanksgiving to itself.

Given how late BOM is on a lot of things, when it goes up on that site, you know it's official.

The Current War has been yanked and its new date is given as "2018".

Ditto Polaroid.

They accidentally set the date for Polaroid as the year 2121 at first

Is this the first year in awhile that there will be no wide openings on Christmas Day?
