Remember a Julianne Moore film called Shelter that was set to open two years ago but was pulled from the schedule days before opening? No? Well, it's now titled 6 Souls and will open in limited release on April 5th. But you can already get it on demand or import the DVD from Canada (under its original title) if you want to save the hours of driving.

I just read on Comingsoon that Universal is cancelling the April 12th IMAX only launch of Oblivion, and will instead release the film directly on April 19 (including IMAX)...

Damn. Those probable 5 PTA points pushed me over the edge. I may reconsider some lineups.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Sounds like Universal read my thoughts on platforming it. ;) That or Jurassic Park 3-D really is going to break the trend of reissues flopping.

Dammit! That extra PTA potential was really appealing. Still has a favorable release date, but would have liked the extra incentive.

After a whopping seven years on the shelf (due to legal troubles), Jonathan Levine's first film is finally getting a US release. The Weinstein Company has picked up (again, after picking the film up in 2007 and later selling it to the now-defunct Senator Entertainment) All the Boys Love Mandy Lane and will release the film sometime this summer through their Radius label. Though the entire target audience has probably seen it through importing the DVD, it will be fun to see how young Amber Heard and Anson Mount looked then.

In every David O. Russell movie, his characters are downright unlikeable (even his best film, Three Kings, has one-dimensional characters who only care about money) but he tries to get us to like them for superficial reasons. It's hard to like characters when you aren't given a reason to care for them (and matters are only made worse when the guy making the film has a history of being tyrannical towards his actors to the point where actors have sworn to never work with again, such as his fistfight with George Clooney or his awful treatment of Lily Tomlin).

If any filmmaker was undeserving of a second chance, it's this guy.

yea thats why christian bale, mark whalberg, jennifer lawrence and bradly cooper have now all worked with him more than once now. they like being overlorded and yelled at, not because he is a great director and has gotten each of them an oscar nom or more.

Wasn't the guy generally regarded as one of, if not the greatest directors of all time, tyrannical? I don't think that affected his films in a negative sense. And I'm certain most were happy for him to keep making more movies...

But Kubrick didn't get into fistfights with his actors and make people hate his guts (there also the case of Nailed, of which he walked off the project when it was 95% complete and refuses to finish it). If anything, Hollywood is protecting Russell because of his last two films when he should have been blackballed for the events that happened before then, most of which was all his fault.
