New Sony dates:

Angry Birds 2 9/6/2019 (from 9/20/2019)
Jumanji Sequel (is it Jumanji: Welcome Back to the Jungle or Jumanji 4?) 12/13/2019

And Magnolia will open Palme d'Or winner Shoplifters on 11/23/2018.

Annapurna will open Missing Link on 4/19/2019.

Meanwhile, Well Go has picked up Burning and will open on 10/26/2018.

Edit: Indiana Jones 5 has been pulled from its 7/10/2020 date. I wouldn't be surprised to see this get canceled altogether, despite Spielberg's interest (Ford isn't getting any younger).

Second edit: to no one's surprise, Three Seconds has been pushed to 2/1/2019 (from 8/17/2018). In other news, Orion will open the Taylor Schilling thriller The Prodigy on 2/8/2019.

And because I can't keep editing the last post, another Disney update: Planes 3 is dead. Disney has closed the animation studio that was making the film and will write off any projects that were being made there as a loss.

Also, Aviron has scheduled a placeholder for 10/25/2019. All that's known is that it is a horror film.

A new outfit formed by former Open Road head Tom Ortenberg has gotten the rights issues settled with Fahrenheit 11/9 and will open wide on 9/21/2018. I'll be surprised if this can make a tenth of what the first film did.

New Focus dates:

Boy Erased 11/2/2018 (from 9/28/2018)
On the Basis of Sex 12/25/2018 (from 11/9/2018)

Meanwhile, Greyhound will now open on 3/22/2019 (from 2/8/2019).

Edit: Warner Bros. has announced the first of a two-film deal with LeBron James will be a remake of House Party. The second will be the expected Space Jam 2. This suggests that the real reason of LeBron going to the Lakers could be to have a film career rather than beating the Warriors again.

Duck Duck Goose will premiere on Netflix July 20th. No need to speculate if it's going to theatres now.

Patient Zero will be going straight-to-DVD on October 23rd. Not even a quick day-and-date playoff for this one.

Lionsgate will open Ben is Back (which reads almost exactly like the director's Pieces of April) on 12/7/2018.

New Disney dates:

Mary Poppins Returns 12/19/2018 (from 12/25/2018)
Jungle Cruise 10/11/2019
Maleficent 2 5/29/2020
Indiana Jones 5 7/9/2021 (from TBA 2020)

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Warner Bros. will date a Joker movie for next Christmas that will reveal a mentor character to be played by Joaquin Phoenix (the usually private Phoenix is also rumored to be attending Comic-Con to announce his involvement). I'm not sure how the concept of two Jokers will play with the comic book fans.

Looking at that Dec 19-21 weekend you gotta wonder what the hell the studios are doing. 6 wide releases. And what's worse, 3 are gunning for the exact same audience (bumblebee, Aquaman, Alita Battle Angel). Someone's goota move outta there

Alita: Battle Angel will likely be the bomb of the Christmas season unless they fix some of the effects (James Cameron's produced projects have never been as successful as the ones he's directed) so I could easily see it getting moved to 2019. And Holmes and Watson feels like another Grimsby for Sony while Welcome to Marwen could get massively reworked if Universal loses trust in Zemeckis (I wonder if this what cost Zemeckis The Flash). On the other hand, I think Bumblebee either stays put or moves to Christmas Day. The trailer seems to have had enough positive buzz that it could win back a lot of the fans lost by the last two films.

Some on HSX were speculating that Aquaman could move up two weeks or even further to Thanksgiving but Fantastic Beasts 2 is an issue. But on the other hand, Aquaman has apparently tested well and was anyone really clamoring for another Fantastic Beasts film?

There's also 5 wide releases schedule for Thanksgiving this year so that may go against Aquaman. I wouldn't put it there, but maybe Dec 14th, up against Spiderman

No way they'll open on December 14th, especially if Spider-Man turns out to be better. It will just create more ammunition for the Marvel fan community while ignoring they had a film worse than Justice League last year.

And Thanksgiving will get some shuffling. Second Act seems like a January release, Robin Hood looks to be a dud, and Green Book might get platformed first to sell the performances to the Oscar voters.
