Top Gun: Maverick will now open two days earlier on 6/24/2020.

Meanwhile, Sony has announced Baby Driver 2. Does he break out of prison this time?

No Time to Die has been delayed until November 25th because of the Coronavirus. A massive reshuffling of the release calendar is likely imminent.

I think the delay was less Coronavirus and more the fact that they tried to finish a Bond film in under a year. Placing it in April felt more than anything like Annapurna needing the money back when they were set to release it.

Meanwhile, Trolls World Tour takes the April 10th spot vacated by No Time to Die.

It looks like Saint Maud will be a wide release after all. AMC is doing a promotion where three other movies (The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, The Conjuring) will be reissued this month to promote the film, leading up to an April 1st sneak preview exclusively at the chain.

I haven't seen Rosemary's Baby in the theatre but I'll be surprised is they do them near me. The AMC bookers here are only interested in action movies and Evangelical propaganda.

Bond films have been completed with tighter schedules. This is different.

Also, crazy that St Maud is going wide. I love the film and I'm friends wih Rose but it's not a mainstream film. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, but they haven't been as big as this one. The film should have been placed in November to begin with, Coronavirus or not, to avoid having to rush through its production (I also have feeling that the delay will allow some tightening as I can't see too much enthusiasm over a 163 minute Bond film). I'm sure had Sony held onto No Time to Die, that would have been the case.

As for Saint Maud, I've been told it's crazy. But also, A24 rarely seems to have any idea of what connects outside of their small pool of where they're located and those who think every movie they release is the best ever. Their fans are just like the MCU's fans.

It is 100% due to the Coronavirus. The film is rated PG-13, meaning there is likely a finished cut in place. It's certainly possible that they could tweak it a bit between now and November, but the film that will eventually be released is probably largely going to be the same movie that could have been released next month. There's no way it was pushed back this close to it's planned release due to them suddenly wanting to make changes to the film when it's ready to ship out. Their statement states that it was delayed "after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace." Meaning that it was more than likely because of the Coronavirus causing theater closures in China, Italy, and France.

All that said, I think that MGM/EON/Universal should have done what Disney did with Mulan and only delay the film in affected territories, perhaps until around summer. Unless the virus is a pandemic of catastrophic proportions, it will probably subside in warmer months.

I'm pretty sure April 17th is only the British date for The Secret Garden. The US trailer as well as the STX YouTube page just said "Coming Soon to Theaters".

A press release on HSX accompanying the trailer reported April 17th, which is in line with the international launch. Being that the trailer will more than likely be with My Spy next week, I can't see why an independent of STX's size would release a trailer and not announce a date with it.

Also, theatres (assuming they aren't closed nationwide) need product with No Time to Die getting pulled from Spring.

In short, I'd say it's more likely than Legally Blonde 3, a film that never even began filming, opening on May 8th.

Meanwhile, Saint Maud has been pushed again to April 10th. Stick to a date, A24.

Gotcha. It looks like its going to be a hard sell to American audiences anyways, so a modest release a month from now would make sense.
