They didn't greenlight 5 Unfriended movies, they greenlit 5 movies from the production company (Timur Bekmambetov is the owner) that was behind Unfriended that just happens to use the same filming style.

That's why I said inspired by Unfriended.

The DVD of Unfriended: Dark Web can be currently found at Dollar Tree, if that tells you anything.

My bad for reading that too fast and misconstruing your statement, but saying that something is "inspired" by Unfriended because it uses the same filming style still isn't accurate.

That's about all it's worth. It was an exceptionally average movie. The Dollar Tree DVD/Blu-Ray bin can produced some gems from time to time though. I was able to get the Her Blu-Ray there in November (along with similarly acclaimed classics like Hobo with a Shotgun, Joy and the Scooby-Doo/Kiss direct-to-video movie that sounded too insane for me to pass up).

The article that mentioned the news said they were inspired by Unfriended, okay? Kind of like how I Still Believe was influenced by I Can Only Imagine.

In other news, Sony has announced a summer title. The Broken Hearts Gallery will open in whatever theatres are open on July 10th.

Meanwhile in Warner Bros. news, there are suggestions that Tenet might move to July 31st in the event New York's theatres aren't fully running. There has been another rumor that it may go to August 14th so to get San Francisco's theatres while pushing Wonder Woman 1984 to Christmas.

And now there are plans for Wanted 2 to be in the style of Unfriended. First of all, it's been much too long since the first. And second, Mark Millar does not deserve more money.

Edit: I found out earlier Legion M will assist in the release of an unnamed film that played at Sundance. Considering the kinds of films Legion M helps handle, it seems to be Dinner in America.

King of Staten Island's theatrical run has been canceled. The few theatres that had it booked had gotten DCP's but Judd Apatow asked that they be returned. I have to wonder the story about why the director got so antsy about a day-and-date release.

Meanwhile, Greyhound will premiere on Apple+ on July 10th. At least it's being released, something that Sony wasn't willing to do.

Also, Greenland will now open on July 31st.

Disney moves:

- The One and Only Ivan will go to Disney+. Kind of expected, considering it had been on the shelf for a while and Disney chose not to release the trailer that have been submitted to the MPA back in March.

- The Personal History of David Copperfield has taken The One and Only Ivan's vacated August 14th date.

- Everybody's Talking About Jamie has left the Oscar race and will now open on 1/22/2021 (from 10/23/2020).

- Get Back has been delayed nearly a year to 8/27/2021 (from 9/4/2020).

Meanwhile, potential Oscar favorite Mank will arrive sometime in October.

I bet Jamie will get a limited release in Dec to qualify (or else the requirements are changing and it will be eligible)

After the smoke of new dates cleared, MGM decided to move up No Time to Die a few days to November 20th. I remember when the weekend before Thanksgiving was the standard James Bond date.

Meanwhile, I found that Lionsgate has scheduled The Glorias for a September 25th date. I was sure this would get sold off after those rape allegations against Timothy Hutton came out.

Rumors have Mulan getting delayed again due to both the second wave of COVID in Beijing and San Francisco and New York not having its theatres ready for July 24th. So what other Disney title gets moved to Disney+ to accommodate this delay?

The One and Only Ivan was the last obvious dump candidate they had on their slate, so who knows. If they decide to do a slight shift to August/September, they might not have to move anything else.

Maybe not Disney+ but The Empty Man could possibly get dumped onto Hulu. It was filmed three years ago and while still listed for August 7th, there's no trailer out.

Or maybe they finally kill the Bob's Burgers movie that's only on the schedule because Fox could never get the Family Guy movie off the ground. But it just get a director so maybe that goes to Hulu or gets split up into a few episodes. Besides, who would actually pay $9 to watch ugly animation, obscure 70's references, and someone say "butts" over and over when the fans just streamed the show?

Saint Maud gets another new date. A24 has scheduled it for July 17th but I'm sure it gets delayed again.
