Looks like Paramount got to their senses and killed those Paranormal Activity and My Little Pony sequels no one actually wanted. Meanwhile, The Tomorrow War was pulled from their schedule as well so I have to imagine this was sold off as originally planned.

Stillwater didn't disappear after all! Focus will open it on 7/30/2021, which suggest it will marketed more like Taken and less like an awards film.

I was beginning to think that would get dumped onto PVOD. Even with Reynolds and Jackson, does anyone remember the first film?

Also, no actor says "straight to DVD" quite like Frank Grillo.

Reminiscence moves up to 8/27/2021, making itself the meat between a BIOS/Shang-Chi sandwich.

Meanwhile, it looks like A24 is now calling Zola @Zola. This sounds even more like a straight-to-Netflix movie.

The Mitchells vs. the Machines hits Netflix on April 30th. I'm still getting used to not calling this one Connected.

I have to imagine Warner Bros. will also delay Those Who Wish Me Dead. There's still nothing out for it a month and a half before the opening date.

Wouldn't be so sure about that. They didn't drop a trailer for The Little Things or the full length for Judas and the Black Messiah until a month out.

In sort of a stunning move, Netflix is very close to closing a deal for 2 Knives Out sequels-the first of which is set to shoot in Greece in late June. Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig will be back for both installments.

Lionsgate picked up the first Knives Out in a negative pickup deal. Media Rights Capital retained much of what Lionsgate didn't take (such as streaming, which is why Prime Video got it instead of Epix). It's possible Lionsgate didn't give a satisfying enough deal for the sequels (if you remember, Lionsgate also didn't distribute the Sicario sequel when talks between them and that film's financiers broke down).

Meanwhile, I was looking at the Regal reopening plans and it seems that they intend to have all theatres back in business by May 21st. It wouldn't be surprising to see something move there as currently, there are no wide titles scheduled.

Continuing the trend of releasing films shot years ago, Lionsgate has picked up Above Suspicion, a film Phillip Noyce shot in 2017 but was stuck in distribution hell domestically, and will release it day-and-date on May 14th.

Another movie that was shot in 2017 is finally coming out. Netflix has picked up Monster, which was previously on Entertainment Studios' schedule as All Rise, and will release it on May 7th.

And Those Who Wish Me Dead isn't being delayed after all, as a poster was just released.

I've been looking at forthcoming movies and I've noticed that COVID has made the old school all-star cast movie happen again to a lesser extent with Songbird and Locked Down but to a far larger extent with Adam McKay and David O. Russell's new movies.

On an unrelated note, how is David O. Russell still getting to make movies in Hollywood, considering how the industry is supposed to cracking down on abuse on and off set? His abuse might not be sexual but there should not be a place for his actions. Speaking of which, Scott Rudin shouldn't be getting a pass just because he's working with A24. I mean, a whole movie (ironically starring Kevin Spacey) was built around how he treats people like shit.
