Utterly delighted that The Hunt is going to go down as the last movie I ever saw in a theater.

People need to stop using "political reasons" as an excuse not to wear a face mask. You're just an ignorant asshole who thinks being told to do something is the end of the world.

The world does not revolve around one's ego.

As for Tenet, they should just premiere it on HBO Max. It's not going to be a big blockbuster like Mr. I Still Think It's 1997 believes it will be. In fact, just send everything that hasn't gotten a new date yet (Antlers, Promising Young Woman) or we've been waiting a while for (A Quiet Place Part II, everything Sony, etc.).

Because some are still hopeful, new distributor Cloudburst Entertainment has picked up The Comeback Trail, a remake of an obscure 70's film, for a 11/13/2020 wide release. Even with the leads, I feel a VOD release is more likely.

Not really a release date, but I just saw SCOOB is on HBO Max. This has to be the quickest a major title has gone from VOD to "free w/ subscription". If they start doing this frequently it may kill their "Rent me for $20-25" model.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Scoob! was dropped to $15 earlier this month, as I imagine the poor word of mouth got around. I might do a free trial for HBO Max to watch it and whatever new Criterion HD scans they've got (they had new masters of Brute Force and The Naked City before they got announced for Blu and they had a YouTube stream of Under the Volcano blocked in the US as HBO got domestic streaming rights for a new master of that one).

Meanwhile, I think Onward was quicker. I recall it being on Disney+ less than three weeks after it opened.

Apple and Warner Bros. are currently in a bidding war to produce Antoine Fuqua's next film, starring Will Smith. Currently, the high bid is $130 million and rising.

New dates:

Unhinged 7/31/2020 (from 7/10/2020)
Mulan 8/21/2020 (from 7/24/2020)
Bill & Ted Face the Music 8/28/2020 (from 8/14/2020)
Without Remorse 2/26/2021 (from 10/16/2020)

I have to imagine that the theatre chains will also delay their reopenings a bit now as they were expecting Unhinged and Mulan to open their theatres.

Unsurprisingly in the wake of last week's moves, AMC has shifted the opening date of its theaters from July 15th to July 30th.

I expect the same with Regal.

My local arthouse was supposed to have a soft relaunch this week but that has been scrapped.

At this point, everything might as well wait until next year and whatever is finished should be available to rent. Idiots are still going to refuse to wear masks because they think taking someone else's advice is the end of the world. And the worst part is that we continue to let them.

And to no one's surprise, Saint Maud has been pushed back yet again. Just send this to DirecTV, A24. At this point, most people who wanted to see this have either bootlegged it or imported a copy either physically or through a VPN.

I have to wonder how much money they've lost by not doing Virtual Cinema streams. Both this and First Cow would have been far more successful this way.

Saint Maud hasn't been bootlegged/pirated yet as its UK release dates were also pushed back.
