More turmoil at STX. 21 Bridges is rumored to be pushed to 2020, as many as five films will be offloaded to streaming (I'm guessing The Boy II, My Spy, and The Secret Garden are in there, The Gentlemen could go to Netflix if the price is right), and in the ultimate example of how they haven't learned a thing, they offered Jeff Robinov the CEO spot.

I'm still convinced we'll see a merger with a company that figures dumping a film with T'Challa is a bad idea.

Understatement of the month. They'd said it wasn't looking good after Huayi Brothers declined to extend their financing agreement (in addition, Tang Capital was a minority investor and they of course went broke last year) and now, STX has been in talks with Saudi investors (a country that by the way only lifted their film ban two years ago).

As I said earlier, I'm convinced Solstice will try to buy their assets (mainly for the distribution network and international division) and merge. That company has former STX people and they just began filming their first production this week. Another candidate is Lantern, even though they're working with Warner Bros. in their joint venture with Spyglass and Cineworld (related to companies connected to former Weinstein people, 101 Studios seems like a long shot as they seem to be specializing in smaller films). Entertainment Studios would seem like a possibility but Byron Allen seems to be more interested in television right now (he had to help Sinclair with the Fox Sports Regional Networks bid).

You forgot They Shall Not Grow Old, though it eventually got a traditional release.

Anyway, it depends in the same way as 3 From Hell. Fathom reports box office but Saban doesn't. Being that it's a two-day release and the second day will include the reissue of an eighteen year-old film, I wouldn't expect great numbers if it does report. It's not going to be a hyped film with excellent reviews or big name recognition.

It looks like STX will get their Saudi financing. It remains to be seen how hands-on the financiers will be on their product.

Halloween Kills has been confirmed for 10/16/2020. In addition, another Halloween installment, Halloween Ends, will open on 10/15/2021.

Also confirmed are Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, a new Fantastic Four, and a new Blade starring Mahershala Ali in addition to the already known Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the already-scheduled Black Widow and The Eternals.
