Missing Link will now be the first release from the new United Artists. The reformed label will also distribute Orion releases along with MGM and Annapurna titles.

It seems as if Gemini Man will stay in October. Paramount has sent out a test film for projectionists to see if they can play the film at 60fps with the Wonder Park DCP's (this also replaces that film's attached trailers, though it will not be presented to the public). No word on if a trailer will be forthcoming though.

Looks like Regal's getting back into filmmaking. Their parent company, Cineworld, will be teaming with Gary Barber's relaunched Spyglass Entertainment and Lantern Entertainment (the company that got much of The Weinstein Company) to produce films starting next year. It will be interesting to see if they'll work with some of the proposed new labels or through established relationships (I'd rule out United Artists, since Barber's time at MGM didn't end well).

New date:

Newark (prequel to The Sopranos) 9/25/2020

I'm kind of surprised this is still going to theatres, especially with Netflix getting the distribution rights to the Breaking Bad movie.

Well, they're two different networks. AMC has done a good amount of business with Netflix. HBO is a direct competitor, though they let some of their older stuff on Prime. I wouldn't be surprised if Newark hit Prime streaming within six months of release. HBO may keep it only on their service, though.

I figured that if Sony decided that Breaking Bad would do better on Netflix than in theatres, Warner Bros. would have chosen to premiere Newark on HBO. They've been getting into premiering new movies on there again lately.

James Gunn is back on as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, the earliest we will see the film could be 2023 as Gunn is still attached to The Suicide Squad.

Between those two and BrightBurn, Gunn seems to have become the king of the superhero movies.

Apparently, Cruel Intentions is returning to theatres this Friday. I did not know of this until I saw it in the Fantasy Movie League lineup and had to check if it was the 1999 film (I was thinking it was a Spanish language film with an incorrect poster at first).

Soderbergh turned out to be wrong about his Bill & Ted info. United Artists will open the film on 8/21/2020.

STX has picked up a new adaptation of The Secret Garden (how many times has this been adapted now?). The project was previously at Global Road before they went under.

An interesting retitling: 17 Bridges is now titled 21 Bridges. Where did the four extra bridges come from?
