Where Did You Go, Bernadette? has been pushed yet again to 8/9/2019 (from 3/22/2019). At this point, just sell it to Netflix.

And IFC will release Mary Magdalene. How many Weinstein titles now remain without new distributors?

Also, more on the new Ghostbusters: it looks as if Sony is going the Jumanji route with it and having the new characters be teenagers this time. And as I thought, the events of the last one look to be ignored as this one is being referred to as the third film (hey, I didn't like the last one either but retconning things just to win back an unpleasable crowd is something that needs to go away, just say that the last one involved a splinter group of the Ghostbusters).

The social media stuff on the last Ghostbusters was bananas. First the negative reaction was due to only the “alt-right” (not because of McCarthys earlier work or that they were hoping for the original cast). Then people saw it and most people decided for themselves it wasn’t very good, but you still had fanatics believe it can’t be a bad film and if you didn’t like it you were anti-woman. I personally rooted for it and it fell flat for me.

I don’t think they’re doing this to please the far right but because it was just bad. It’s easier to sweep inder the rug since there wasn’t much of the original universe in the film.

Also they’re doing an animated Ghostbusters because of the success of Spidey.

Ghostbusters II was also quite hated when it came out, which was one of the reasons why it took so long to do another (that and Bill Murray hates doing sequels).

I get that Sony wants to bury the past but all that it does in the end is cause the same mistakes to be made again (why exactly is Fox doing the Dark Phoenix story again?).

And since I brought up Jumanji, when did everyone forget there was a sequel before Welcome to the Jungle? I get that it flopped at the box office but I always assumed it did better once it hit DVD.

Why didn't they officially pull The Rhythm Section while they were at?

More date changes:
Five Feet Apart 3/15/19 (from 3/22/19)
Captive State 3/15/19 (from 3/29/19)

There are rumors that Rhythm Section may go to the fall. I wouldn't be surprised if it got dumped (despite being from the producers of the James Bond franchise) if it turns out to be like the director's previous film (which was heavily hyped at Sundance last year until people actually saw it).

And not reported on HSX but found on Box Office Mojo, The Loud House has lost its date. I'm not surprised one bit by this and I have a feeling Paramount has killed it completely.

Don't know what to think about Captive State. I could see it bombing in the wake of Captian Marvel. Movie looks great, though.

I think the Purge crowd will love Captive State. It seems like their kind of movie.

And now Captive State's been pulled. Nice job, whoever called it.

And also... fuck. I hope this doesn't cost me the podium.

You sure that all this isn’t just a Mojo brain fart? Focus still has Captive State set for March 29th on their own site :P

I'm waiting for an official announcement from Focus. This might be like the time Box Office Mojo mistakenly pulled Eighth Grade from their schedule when A24 always had it opening in July.

And a couple of Marvel rumors:

- Channing Tatum might direct Gambit as well as starring. Has this ever happened on a comic book adaptation?

- New Mutants could bypass theatres and premiere on Hulu in October. The suggested reason is that Anya Taylor-Joy is not going to be available for reshoots until a certain date later in the year.
