New dates:

Viral 7/29/2016 (Weinstein will release this long-delayed film from Nerve's directors anyway, just two days after that one)
American Honey 9/30/2016 (A24 seems to be going for awards, but is there much interest for a 2 hour, 38 minute road movie with no major stars?)
Moonlight (1980's set coming-of-age tale from A24) 10/21/2016
Underworld: Blood Wars 1/6/2017 (from 10/14/2016) (this delay opens up a move up for one of the October 21st titles, my best guess is that Jack Reacher: Never Go Back goes to the 14th or even earlier at October 7th)
Gifted 4/12/2017
Pacific Rim 2 2/23/2018 (from TBA 2017)
Wreck-It Ralph 2 3/9/2018
Gigantic 11/21/2018 (from 3/9/2018)

And some untitled Sony Pictures Animation films got dates for 7/26/2019, 12/25/2019, 4/3/2020, 9/25/2010, and 12/11/2010. All but the last are franchise films so I imagine that they are Hotel Transylvania and Smurfs sequels and possibly the animated Ghostbusters that in the works (this one has been rumored to be using the unused Ghostbusters 3 script that was thrown out in favor of the reboot).

One of next week's limited releases, Tulip Fever, has been bumped to 2/24/17 by TWC - which probably is the start of a series of delays before it ends up on Netflix.

See these other period pieces about women from TWC: Grace of Monaco, Suite Francaise.

WB is placing their Tomb Raider reboot on 3/18/18, formerly home of DC's The Flash but it doesn't have a director or a start date so that'll be pushed back.

Also, Katherine Heigl thriller Unforgettable has been dated for 4/21/17.

The Flash does have a director. Rick Famuyiwa (director of Dope and Confirmation) was hired last month and is currently handling pre-production. And the speculation seems to be that it gets moved up to March 2nd and Meg gets pushed back to later in the year.

Meanwhile, I'd be surprised if Tomb Raider ever got made. This reboot has been in the works for what seems like forever and with Vikander being high in-demand right now, she could pull out (Daisy Ridley was previous attached but pulled out possibly due to Star Wars Episode VIII and the Gypsy remake).

New dates:

Operation Chromite 8/12/2016 (from TBA August 2016)
The Dressmaker (Broad Green will distribute this long-delayed Nicole Kidman film) 9/23/2016
In a Valley of Violence 10/21/2016 (from 9/23/2016)
Rules Don't Apply 11/23/2016 (from 11/11/2016)
Keep Watching 12/2/2016
Miss Sloane 12/9/2016
Fences 12/16/2016 limited, 12/25/2016 wide
Julieta 12/21/2016
Gold (Matthew McConaughey's second chance this year at winning another Oscar) 12/25/2016
Toni Erdmann 12/25/2016
The Founder 1/20/2017 (though apparently a one-week Oscar run has been scheduled to get Keaton in the Best Actor running)
The Red Turtle 1/20/2017 (however, I could see this getting a one-week run in December for Oscar consideration)
The Resurrection of Gavin Stone (WWE does a religious film) 1/20/2017
Untitled Blumhouse Horror Film 2/3/2017 (from 2/10/2017)
War with Grandpa (Robert De Niro family comedy) 4/21/2017
Flatliners 8/18/2017 (kind of surprised Sony didn't place it at August 10th, exactly 27 years after the original)
The Hitman's Bodyguard 8/18/2017
The Commuter (the next Liam Neeson/Jaume Collet-Serra teaming) 10/13/2017
Saw VIII 10/27/2017
Life of the Party (the next McCarthy/Falcone teaming) 5/11/2018

Meanwhile, Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur will now be titled King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. The change was apparently influenced by the success of The Legend of Tarzan.

Related to Warner Bros., they have also scheduled untitled films for 6/8/2018, 8/2/2019, and 8/7/2010. My best guess is that they are sequels to The Legend of Tarzan and King Arthur (or possibly The Nun, the planned Conjuring spinoff).

In Lionsgate news, The Divergent Series: Ascendant will now bypass theatres and premiere as a TV movie. It's also rumored that none of the cast will return due to the budget being reduced.

In DreamWorks news, their two 2019 releases will be a pair of long-in-development projects, Shrek 5 and Shadows (formerly Me and My Shadow). Looks like they're doing the Weinstein thing and clearing out the development shelf for Universal.

In surprise news from Lionsgate, The Woods has a new title. It's now titled Blair Witch.

And one new date:
Sleight (previously Untitled BH Tilt #2) 4/7/2017

Well well well, a Blair Witch Sequel. What a horrible idea. Especially in the year when sequels are too many and pretty much all of them fail at the BO.

I hated the first two but I'll give anything from Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett a chance.

Meanwhile, the posters with the original title could be worth a bit of money now.

Wow, that's a big surprise considering Winguard is quite insistent on doing original stuff. But the disappointment of The Guest might have forced him into doing this.

Still, gonna be weird to see him take on Blair Witch, considering he's quite tongue-in-cheek. Interesting.

The Blair Witch Project was lightning in a bottle, and its freshness and microbudget were big parts of its appeal.

The first pointless sequel was a bomb, and this glossy, amped-up version will hopefully tank just as badly.

Yeah, I'm not sure who asked for a Blair Witch reboot/sequel, especially since found footage is way out of style now.

Blair Witch Project is one of the most universally hated movies (by mainstream audiences) of my lifetime, so I have no fucking idea why Lionsgate would greenlight a reboot or sequel. That being said, the involvement of Wingard and Barrett intrigues me.

Universally hated? The first one has a 6.4 score on IMDB, 87% RT score, and made $250m worldwide (and even held well for a horror in the US).

New dates:

Ithaca (Meg Ryan's directorial debut) 9/9/2016
Other People 9/9/2016
The Sea of Trees 9/23/2016 (A24 will now distribute instead of Lionsgate)
Friend Request 10/7/2016 (Freestyle is planning on 2,000 theatres)
Certain Women 10/14/2016
The Handmaiden 10/21/2016 (Magnolia distributing for Amazon)
We Are X (documentary on X Japan, known as X outside the US) 10/21/2016
Paterson 12/28/2016 (Bleecker Street to distribute for Amazon)
Solace TBA 2016 (from 9/2/2016) (wouldn't be surprised to see this premiere on Netflix now)
Rock Dog (animated comedy from the co-director of Toy Story 2 and Surf's Up) 2/24/2017
Wilson (Woody Harrelson/Laura Dern comedy) 3/3/2017
Before I Fall (basically The Butterfly Effect for the young adult crowd, being released by Open Road instead of Fox) 4/7/2017
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul 5/19/2017
The Book of Henry 6/16/2017 (from 9/30/2016)
The Mountain Between Us (now with Idris Elba and Kate Winslet starring) 10/20/2017 (from TBA 2017)
The Story of Ferdinand 12/22/2017 (from 7/21/2017)
The Croods 2 TBA 2018 (from 12/22/2017) (I could see this one going to Universal now unless a previous agreement keeps this at Fox)

And after being scheduled for an 8/5/2016 day-and-date run, Dimension has sold 47 Meters Down to Freestyle and a wide run is planned for later in the year (my best guess being October 28th).
