New release dates:

Collide 8/19/2016 (from TBA 2016)
Morgan (Kate Mara/Paul Giamatti sci-fi) 9/2/2016
Elle 11/11/2016
Nocturnal Animals 11/18/2016 limited, 12/9/2016 wide

Meanwhile, Jason Blum has had a busy week. First, he has announced he will be producing a remake of Benji (a project previously at Fox) and today, he has revealed he and John Carpenter will produce a new Halloween with Mike Flanagan rumored to direct. It's possible both will arrive next year.

And in Netflix news, summer premiere dates:
The Do-Over (May 27th)
The Fundamentals of Caring (June 24th)
Brahman Naman (July 7th, a rare Thursday debut)
Tallulah (July 29th, bypassing theatres though a release was thought to be in the cards)
The Little Prince (August 5th, most likely bypassing theatres)
Mascots (TBA September, theatrical release possible)
War Machine (TBA September, theatrical release possible)

Also having their pay TV premieres on Netflix (US side, that is) this summer are Spotlight, The Big Short (surprising to see a Paramount title premiering on Netflix rather than Hulu or Amazon, I was also surprised to see that Goosebumps premiered on Netflix recently rather than Starz), and beginning in September, all Disney titles. Pay cable premieres are on Wednesdays.

STX giving it another go for their immigration action/thriller....

Desierto - 10/14/16 (limited)
Untitled Blumhouse Horror from Hightop - 2/17/17 (yet another holding spot for a BH horror film, which likely won't ever come out)
Alexandra Daddario: Eyes of a Demon, Face of My Future Ex-Wife

The High Top title is probably Delirium, as Blumhouse has been intending to self-distribute it (and it's bounced around the schedule a few times).

Meanwhile, Universal has scheduled three untitled films for 8/10/2018, 1/18/2019, and 4/10/2020. I wonder if they will be Illumination titles, Universal Monsters titles, or something else completely.

Related to Universal, How the Grinch Stole Christmas has been pushed back a whole year to 11/9/2018 (from 11/10/2017).

And some new Lionsgate dates:
Wonder (Jacob Tremblay/Julia Roberts drama) 4/7/2017
How to Be a Latin Lover (Eugenio Derebez/Kristen Bell comedy from Ken Marino) 4/28/2017
Granite Mountain (aka No Exit) 9/22/2017

Other dates:
Operation Chromite (Korean film with Liam Neeson) TBA August 2016 (Kino Lorber and CJ Entertainment are planning on 300 theatres)
The Greasy Strangler 10/7/2016
The Coldest City 8/11/2017

New dates:

The Shallows 6/24/2016 (from 6/29/2016)
White Girl 8/26/2016 limited, 9/9/2016 wide (though with FilmRise distributing, the wide plan is probably closer to top 20-25 markets)
Spectral TBA 2016 (from 8/12/2016) (I imagine this probably opens in December now)
Rock That Body (more or less Very Bad Things with the genders reversed) 6/23/2017

Meanwhile, Netflix has picked up the Rooney Mara/Jason Segel ghost story The Discovery and will premiere it next year. A limited theatrical run is also planned.

I was still kinda hoping they would launch a last minute mind-blowing teaser trailer in June that would have everyone salivate over it, but if they still open it in 2016 Im fine with it.

New date:

Smallfoot TBA Spring 2018 (possibly around April, though there is a 2/9/2018 placeholder for a Warner Bros. animated film)

This is Warner Animation Group's second non-Lego film, an Abominable Snowman comedy from the writers of Bad Santa (as well as the directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love, Focus, and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot).

Meanwhile, Open Road has pulled out of distributing David Brent: Life on the Road and Netflix will release it instead. I expect that it will still arrive in the Fall (Open Road was looking at an August/September debut).

Denis Villeneuve's Story of Your Life (now known as Arrived) gets a prime Oscar date with 11/11/16 - wide.

Arrived is such a lazy title for a film focusing on alien invasions, why are studios so terrified of titles with a bit of mystery or creativity??

Story of Your Life sounds like something you'd find on Lifetime. Arrived at least gets the point across (and it continues the director's theme of almost always using one-word titles).

Meanwhile, Universal has announced that the Wicked movie will finally be ready for 12/20/2019, sixteen years after the adaptation began development (the play was developed in tandem with a film version).

Other new dates:
Max Rose (a new film starring Jerry Lewis) 9/2/2016
Untitled BH Tilt #2 (since a horror film isn't listed, it could be the Benji remake) 4/7/2017
Pigeon Impossible (animated film from Fox) 1/18/2019

That's a lot of film to be released on Nov 11th. Although All Eyez could open limited and expand on Thanksgiving.

It's a very interesting release date, obviously gunning for Awards.
