New release date:

Chicken Soup for the Soul 12/16/2016

I must wonder how this is going to work.

Meanwhile, Sicario has pushed its wide expansion back one week to 10/2/2015 (where Lionsgate will also open Freeheld in limited release before expanding that wide on 10/16/2015). October 2nd will now have three wide openers.

Also, Race has moved up to 2/19/2016 (from 4/8/2016).

New release date:

Macbeth 12/4/2015

I figured this would finally get a date since Assassin's Creed (Justin Kurzel's next film) has begun filming.

My All-American 11/13/2015 (from 10/9/2015)
Everything Will Be Fine 12/4/2015
Life 12/4/2015 (from 9/25/2015)

After it looked like a done deal a few months back, Universal has passed on The Program and EOne is set to take over as distributor. Hmm, must not be very good then.

Though Godzilla 2 won't be out until 2018, it looks like we already know the plot for Godzilla 3 as Warner Bros. has acquired both the rights to Kong: Skull Island (from Universal) and all future King Kong rights. Part of the plan for future King Kong movies will be a new update of King Kong vs. Godzilla.

Maybe we can get Batman v. Superman v. King Kong v. Godzilla: Dawn of Justice and Giant Monsters in the process.

Sony has announced that Jobs will be opening limited on Oct. 9th instead of the planned wide release.

It will expand nationwide on the 23rd. That makes 6 wide releases on 10/23/15.

Snowden has just been pulled from 12/25/2015 and will now open sometime in 2016 (editing must not have been completed in time, which would be a surprise for the usually fast-working Stone).

Meanwhile, Pawn Sacrifice is set to expand wide next Friday.

Not too surprised, we hadn't seen anything past a teaser with no footage. It would've gotten steamrolled anyway, in the glut that is this Christmas.

New release date:

God's Not Dead 2 4/1/2016 (from 3/23/2016)

Going from the Batman v. Superman date to a prime date with only one other movie (of which I wouldn't be surprised to see pushed back).

Steve Jobs is going wide on the 16th, not the 23rd.

Bummed to see Snowden bumped. Hopefully it opens early in 2016.

Thought Steve Jobs was going wide on the 9th now?

It's limited on the 9th, wide on the 16th.

Meanwhile, About Ray has been pulled from this Friday and may open later this year for a one-week Oscar qualifying run. Hopefully, Weinstein also reverts to the much better working title of Three Generations.

And Michelle Darnell is now titled The Boss. This should create some interesting possibilities for the ad campaign (like using James Brown's song in the trailer).

New release date:

Anomalisa 12/30/2015

Paramount has a new contender for the Best Animated Feature race, but the number of remaining spots will get lower (I see When Marnie Was There, Inside Out, and Shaun the Sheep Movie as locks).

Also, Broad Green is planning an 10/9/2015 wide date on 99 Homes. How wide isn't known.

And Pacific Rim 2 is expected to be pulled from its 8/4/2017 date due to budget problems.

Universal has pushed Legend from 10/2/2015 to 11/25/2015 limited, 12/11/2015 wide. Looks like the mixed reviews got Universal to blink.

Universal has also pushed London Has Fallen to 3/4/2016 (from 1/22/2016) while The Weinstein Company has bought full rights to Jane Got a Gun and will open sometime in February.
