Outside of Ex Machina, Garland's films have not been hits. Also, I think audiences have moved on from violent dystopia movies.

I'm surprised they're not holding it until closer to the election, but coming in April, I guess it'll be streaming by October/November.

Normally would be a bad release date, but Fall Guy is not as scary as a Marvel movie opening the summer. Especially with no big movies until Furiousa/Apes on Memorial Day.

I can't really see Civil War appealing to anyone outside of people who want to see a movie that appeals to their new American civil war fantasies. It's nothing more than A24's version of The Purge and we've largely moved on from those.

It will be totally forgotten by the election.

Edit: I found out Civil War runs three hours and fifteen minutes. Yeah, it's going to bomb.

Beverly Hills Cop IV is finally arriving after years of talks and false starts. Netflix has scheduled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley for a tentative Summer date and just released a teaser poster. More should be known soon, as a teaser trailer arrives tomorrow morning.

Blumhouse's Wolfman has been dated for October 25th, 2024. Christopher Abbott is playing the lead role and Leigh Whannell will direct.

Also, Sony will be handling global theatrical distribution for a pair of Apple's upcoming projects (Project Artemis and Wolfs). Neither project has a date yet, but they should both be out sometime next year.

Did we really need another remake of The Wolf Man? And seeing how it's from the director of the Blumhouse version of The Invisible Man, I'd expect it will have almost nothing to do with the original.

I doubt that Civil War will do that well, but A24 seems to love this mid-to-late April release date, and seems to save it for the films they believe have the most commercial potential outside of awards season. Speaking of A24, it seems like they have forgotten Problemista exists. I really wonder when that's coming out, or if they may sell it to another studio.

I know it's a Blumhouse production, but that seems like a very fast turnaround for Wolfman.
It's not destroying. It's making something new.

I have a feeling Problemista's getting sold off to Apple or another frequent collaborator. I remember when they were planning their adaptation of Native Son as a big Oscar contender and ended up not even releasing it, selling it to HBO instead.

Looks like Kung Fu Panda 4 may still be opening on March 8th. A trailer and poster have just been released.

Edit: it is staying at March 8th.

I have to imagine Touch will be a very small release, as it's in Icelandic.

A24 is releasing Love Lies Bleeding sometime in January. Based on the straight-to-DVD-level poster, I have to imagine this long-on-the-shelf Kristen Stewart thriller is getting dumped into day-and-date status before hitting Max a few months later.

It's not getting dumped, it's premiering at Sundance on January 20th. Also since when is a movie that completed shooting less than 18 months ago and got an MPPA rating just under a month ago "long on the shelf"?

18 months ago is an awfully long period between filming and release, especially when you already have a distributor. Five Nights at Freddy's went from filming to release in under nine months and that was a $20 million film filled with effects sequences.

This is a low-budget film with a first-time lead and little in the way of mainstream appeal. You could have released this last summer and had it on streaming already. In addition, the ad campaign only started today and the distributor is already thinking of post-theatrical, suggesting they are not going to try with a regular theatrical release.
