BOX OFFICE LEAGUE APR-JUN 2023

Post by Shrykespeare »

Please email me your lineups in Ultimate and/or Box Office at shrykespeare42@gmail.com, or you can PM them to me here (though I prefer email). Or, you can just post it here.

The usual rules apply... you get $100 to spend, and no more than eight films on your final roster.

If a film (usually a limited-release film) fails to report its income, it will be removed from the game. If that film is on your lineup, you will be notified so you can replace it.

My god, the rest of the pricing panel is going to great lengths to prevent another Wakanda Forever/The Way of Water situation from happening  Those Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 and Fast X prices are outrageous.

They are still not as high as they should be, besides Guardians. I priced them way higher, suggesting some people are pricing them ridiculously low in order to have another dull Avatar/Wakanda round where we all pick the same 2 movies. If a film is guaranteed to make $300m we should be making them as competitive as possible, it's as simple as that.

Anyway, my slate

Super Mario Bros
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Past Lives
No Hard Feelings
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

I agree with the general premise of pricing things high enough so that everybody doesn't end up with identical slates. This season just feels like an egregious overcorrection to atone for the Wakanda Forever/Way of Water combo 2 seasons ago, particularly in the case of something like Fast X which is a part of a franchise that has been on a downward BO trend for 3 straight films and is coming off the worst received installment since 2 Fast 2 Furious.
