I'm going to drop Going The Distance (it would've done better opening on the 27th) and pick up Devil.

There's been non-stop promo for it and I think it has the best chance of any September title of breaking out. Now if they'd just take Shymalan's name off of it...

Done.

And by the way, the ad campaign is being reworked to drop Shyamalan's name from the ads. Some of the billboards don't mention him at all, for example.

I'm going to keep the flippity-flop game going and switch Devil back for Going The Distance.

Gotta go with my gut on this one.

I'm dropping Your Highness to take Skyline. Universal seems to planning another delay with Your Highness (despite positive tests, apparently they don't know what to do with it).

I was seriously considering taking Skyline, but I'm not convinced it has real box office potential. Stuck between Due Date/Megamind and Harry Potter is not a good place to be.

It's tracking pretty well (low 20's right now on opening weekend) and online appeal is surprisingly good. Also, Universal doesn't seem to know what to do with Your Highness (Despite positive test screenings, it's been pushed back once already and a second delay is rumored because of Fast Five. Also, adult-oriented fantasy doesn't do well.) so it was inevitable that I would have to drop it.

Yeah, I think Your Highness has serious limited appeal. A stoner comedy set in the days of knights and overcomplicated robes? It may be a great movie, but it seems like a Scott Pilgrim situation all over again.

When I picked it, I was hoping for Pineapple Express numbers on it (three of the people from it return). But seeing Universal's uneasiness on it, they will probably dump it in late summer (meanwhile I don't understand why Universal is so high on The Adjustment Bureau, a film that's been testing badly and looks like a boring romance with a sci-fi plot and rejected characters from The Box tacked on).

I'll be dropping Sanctum for Diary Of A Wimpy Kid 2. James Cameron hasn't been pushing it like I expected him to.

I'll be dropping Bad Teacher (that now makes two Justin Timberlake comedies next summer) and picking up Justin Bieber 3D. As much as it pains me to hope that it does well, I think it will.
