I would have seriously debated taking it over Star Wars at 1.

I totally would have, no debate. star wars people are pissed and while I'm sure it'll do fine, it will dampen the total box office (Unless the marketing really addresses some of the issues people had, and don't get me wrong, I'm one of the few that liked last jedi).

If someone hasn't heard buzz for The Lion King, your head is in the ground. To add to geezer stats, The 3d re-release opened at #1 and almost ended up making $100M. The only other movie that's earned more in re-release was the original Star Wars (from what I can remember, didn't look this up)

But that was eight years ago and not the Lion King we are talking about. In 2019, it feels like it's being viewed as just another remake. Does anyone remember the Beauty and the Beast remake from two years ago? You know, the one that made over $500 million domestic.

But almost no one remembers it. And with some of the newer updates (Christopher Robin, Dumbo) doing nowhere near that number (and at the same time, Disney killing plans to remake The Little Mermaid and choosing to save Lady and the Tramp for Disney+), how is The Lion King supposed to hit those pie in the sky goals?

I don't even think it makes $400 million. The market of live-action remakes of Disney films has become too diluted.

Lion King was my Number 1 pick. It's going to make at least 500 million, probably 6.

The Market hasn't become too diluted, they are just not attacking their principle properties (well they are NOW, but Christopher Robin and Dumbo were not). The 90's were the glory days of Disney. They are the exact films they should be live-action remaking. They are the films that the parents of today's young children grew up with and are now taking their kids to. They are the most beloved films of Disney's catalog. Everyone is underestimating Aladdin (a film I think tops 300 million) and you're crazy if you don't think The Lion King will be absolutely enormous. I certainly still remember the Beauty and the Beast remake. I bought tickets the day they went on presale. It was truly one of the most wonderful theater experiences I've ever had and I bought the special storybook edition Blu Ray the day it came out. And I might like The Lion King more. You might not understand any of this, but I'm not alone in my Disney pandemonium, and The Lion King is on top of the mountain for most.

The Lion King would've been my #1 pick as well. Even with the clear fanboy pandering Rise of Skywalker appears to be engaging in, I still think it's going to make less than the Last Jedi. Lion King is arguably the most popular Disney animated movie of all time and it has pretty much the entire month of August to itself (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Hobbs & Shaw clearly aren't contending for the same audience). $500 mil seems like an absolute worst case scenario.

A couple people need to pray. Pushing back Bond's release at all would be catastrophic for this league.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

It's already been pushed back once and April is just an odd time to open a Bond film (especially since the series has long been associated with November). United Artists should just open in November as they'll be cutting it close with all the post-production. These are not cheap movies.

Speaking of United Artists, Legally Blonde 3 still doesn't have a director or a completed script. I have a feeling this won't make its date either.
