I'll take silver. No McKayla Maroney face here, no sir.

FANTASTIC late-Round pickup on "Harriet", GorillaWight. ;) That looks like this year's "The Mule" to me.

I don't think it's going for that audience, Nico.

No, that's not what I mean; "The Mule" was an 11th-Round $100M film.

Well... shit. I thought a biopic about the king of fantasy, on the cusp of a new mega-budgeted Middle-earth streaming series and within ten days of the "Game of Thrones" finale, couldn't POSSIBLY miss. What a waste.

Be nice to see numbers on "The Biggest Little Farm", and to see it go wider in the following weeks, but I'm not holding my breath. My slate is off to a pretty disastrous start. Early days, yet, but... Damn.

In retrospect (and looking forward), given the prodigious start of Endgame, I have to wonder if any film in all of May has a chance to OVERperform. Aladdin and Godzilla, I think, are the only ones left with a chance to break out. Possibly Ma, but I have my doubts. I think Rocketman and John Wick 3 will not be the breakout hits they're being hyped as.

Summer may not actually start until June, is all I'm saying.

Ma looks like a one-and-done film. The trailer was buzzy but I feel that once you take Octavia Spencer (who is the main draw, I mean who doesn't like Spencer?) out of the equation, you're left with a generic horror film with dumb teenagers (and Juliette Lewis, who comes off as a teenager that never grew up). It should open to $20 million but it's not the next Get Out.

Booksmart could be that breakout (depending on if the sneaks do well) but it seems like if adults like it, teens will more than likely ignore it. It happened to Eighth Grade last year, even with A24 heavily marketing it and doing free screenings where parents could take their kids without worrying about the R rating.

I think "John Wick 3: Wick a Vengeance" will be the top-performing title in the series... I think this franchise is beginning to hit its stride (I certainly didn't care about it until this year, but now I'm all caught up and looking forward to seeing "Parabellum" in theaters). And I think "Ma" could be a modest hit, but everything else will shallow expectations, sadly. And I REALLY want "Godzilla" to be King.

To be fair, the early buzz on "Pikachu" was huge, and difficult to ignore -- Hell, who WOULDN'T leap at a chance to take a potential $85M opener? But, yeah. Looks like $120M, maybe $125M at the high end, a rough First-Round mediocrity. But, then, I think there's going to be A LOT of heartbreak, this Season. I am by no means excluding myself from that emotional state, either. If you don't have a $400M+ film in Round 1, I think you're up Shit's Creek, potentially.

Yeah I'm glad I jump into the game with Secret Life of Pets. I'll at least know what I'm playing for from the start. The Rock just tweeted that filming on Jumanji has wrapped. Still makes me a bit nervous that they've only got 6 months to crank that out, but I think they'll do it. If not, there's plenty of windows in March-April they could move into if they had to. But, if SLOP2 craters it may all be for naught anyway.

True facts, Shrykey-pooh, but I don't think you have TOO too much to worry about with your 1st-Round pick, "Onward" (or, me, with mine). Adjusted for inflation, the average Pixar film is good for $345M... And the VERY early in-house buzz on "Onward" is QUITE strong, reminiscent of films like "Up", "Ratatouille", and "Inside Out". Granted, you and I are going to have a LONG year, because without those anchors, our slates look... vulnerable. Mine, especially. But I think we're going to be quite pleased with how that title, at least, secures our long-term prospects in this game. You might say I've bet my slate on that, because, I have. :)

Herald, I think you may very well already have "Best Pick of The Last Round" locked up for this Season. "The Aeronauts" is not going to disappoint you. Props, good sir. It's going to be interesting watching that one.
